of the Convention states that the objective of national reporting is to provide information on measures taken for the implementation of the Convention and the effectiveness of these measures.

decision X/10
, COP-10 decided that the
fifth national reports
are due by
31 March 2014
and that reports should focus on implementation of the
2011-2020 Strategic Plan for Biodiversity
and progress towards the
Aichi Biodiversity Targets
.
NR5 Information Portal
The
fourth national reports
were due 30 March 2009 (
Decision VIII/14
). They provided essential information to assess progress towards the
2010 Biodiversity Target
, at the national level, as well to assess progress at the global level, the details of which are presented in the
third edition of the Global Biodiversity Outlook
