Dear Cape & Islands Community:

Thank you for visiting the website for the Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office. It has been my distinct pleasure to serve the people of the Cape & Islands as District Attorney since January, 2002. Our Office has seen some dramatic changes over the past seven years.

We established a first of its kind Sex Offender Management Unit which allows us to track and prosecute high-risk sex offenders so that we can help keep our children and our streets safe from these predators.

We have expanded our staff of Assistant District Attorneys.

I co-wrote the Legislation creating a new Undersecretary of Public Safety for Forensic Science and the Forensic Science Advisory Council.

We have expanded our alternative system for first time juvenile offenders who commit minor offenses.

We have implemented a new information technology system to allow for more timely and effective communications with other law enforcement agencies and efficient case management.

We have recorded unparalleled success in gaining convictions in the courtroom.

Our Office prosecutes over 15,000 criminal cases every year. The 23 dedicated and professional prosecutors and 22 support staff members who work in this Office are here to serve the public, and seek justice in an aggressive and fair manner on behalf of the victims of crime. We see ourselves as problem-solvers, not merely as case-processors. Again, thank you for visiting our website. If you have any concerns, not addressed here, or need to contact us, please feel free to call at (508) 362-8113.

Sincerely,

Michael O'Keefe
District Attorney
