My Place is the second studio album by Polish jazz singer Monika Borzym. It was released on 15 October 2013 through Sony Music Entertainment Poland. The album is promoted by the single "Off to Sea". It was certified Gold in Poland a week after its premiere.
My Place was produced by Matt Pierson, with whom Borzym has previously worked on her debut album, Girl Talk (2011). Borzym wrote most of the tracks with a friend, pianist Mariusz Obijalski. The album also features three covers: a jazz version of Rihanna's hit single "Only Girl (in the World)", "The Quiet Crowd" by Patrick Watson, and Kenny Rankin's "In the Name of Love".
Borzym was joined in the studio by guitarist Larry Campbell (collaborator of Bob Dylan and Paul Simon), drummer Kenny Wollesen (John Zorn, Norah Jones), and bassist Tony Scherr (Norah Jones, Bill Frisell). The album also features guest appearances by guitarists John Scofield (Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny), Romero Lubambo and Steve Cardenas, saxophonist Chris Potter and trumpeter Randy Brecker.
"My Place" is the first single by the hip hop artist Nelly from his album Suit. It features Jaheim. It was released as a double A-side with "Flap Your Wings" in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. The song is about inviting a girl over to Nelly's house. It reached number 4 on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts, and number one in the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
The main chorus samples Teddy Pendergrass' "Come Go with Me", and halfway through the song, it has a tiny sample of DeBarge's song "I Like It" while the overall song features a sample of Labelle's 1977 hit, "Isn't It a Shame". The female vocals are provided by Kim Johnson.
"In My Place" is a song by British alternative rock band Coldplay. The song was written collaboratively by all the band members for their second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head. The track is built around thumping drums and chiming guitars. It was released on 5 August 2002 as the lead single from A Rush of Blood to the Head and reached number two on the UK Singles Chart. The song also reached number 17 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks.
"In My Place" was well received by critics, who complimented its arrangement and profound lyrics. The song won the award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal at the 45th Grammy Awards.
In an interview with Q magazine, frontman Chris Martin stated that "In My Place" was a song Coldplay had left after recording their debut album Parachutes (2000). When the band finished recording their second album A Rush of Blood to the Head, Martin said that the album was complete. However, after guitarist Jonny Buckland played the song on his guitar, Martin said that they now needed to record it and include it on the album. Martin also said that: "That's about where you're put in the world, and how you're given your position, and the way you look, and how you have to get on with it." In an interview, Buckland revealed that the song was hard to record, as the band had played the song live. He also commented that when they started recording the song, they did not know how it should sound, due to the band members' contrasting ideas.
This is my place
And I wanna share it with you
I got myself a place to dream
I touch the wind
Caress the sea
And I want you there
To hold me
To love me there is to know me
Where the silver bird of tomorrow
Will fly away with the sorrow
And time won't pass for you and I
We'll be standing still
As the world goes by
This is my place
And I wanna share it with you
I've got the sky to shelter me
And like the tide I'm moving free
I've waited here for you only
We will walk along
Never lonely
This is my retreat, we're together
And my place is now even better
My life's reflected on the sand
And it shows my love
When I touch your hand
This is my place
And I wanna share it with you
I wanna share, I wanna share it with you
This is my place
And you know wherever your place is
Loving only makes it better
And I want you there to hold me
To love me there is to know me
Where the silver bird of tomorrow
Will fly away with the sorrow
And time won't pass for you and I
We'll be standing still
As the world goes round
This is my place
