Visit Nepal, One of the oldest civilizations on Earth
Visit Nepal, one of the oldest civilization on Earth. Nepal is also voted as one of the top 20 destinations in the world. Historical background Nepal history begins with the Kiratis. Kirat ruled Nepal from 800 BC - 330 AD In around 300 AD, Aryan Licchavis from northern India invaded Kathmandu valley and overthrew Kirat. And so began Licchavi Period (330 AD - 600 AD) Then came Thakuri Period (600 AD - 1100 AD) and Malla Period (1100 AD - 1768 AD) With this concludes the ancient history of Nepal. The modern history of Nepal starts with King Prithivi Narayan Shah who unified the country into present day Nepal in the late 17th century AD And so began Shah Period (1768 AD - 1846 AD) Then Rana came to power through conspiracy. Rana ruled Nepal from (1846 AD - 1950 AD) Shah took back the power from Rana in 1950 AD with the last Shah King booted out in 2006 AD by the people. And so as of 2010, Nepal as a civilization is 5070 years according to Yele Sambat(Kirati calendar). The year 5070 Yele Sambat began on 15 January 2010. The Yele Sambar calendar is named after the first Kirat king Yalambar. It is a proud accomplishment for Nepalese as Nepal is recognized as one of the oldest civilizations on earth.

Caste system in Nepal brought by Aryan Licchavis from northern India in 330 CE
VIDEO CREDIT: AL JAZEERA History of the caste system in Nepal. When did the caste system began in Nepal? 800 BCE - 330 CE: The Vishnu Purana, book 2, chapter 37, an ancient book mentioned that the chatur-varna or four class social system was absent among the Kiratas in Kiratdesa in the east and the Yavanas and Kambojas, etc. in the pashchima or west. The Kiratdesa has been identified to be Nepal and the surrounding Himalayas region. Yavanas are associated with Greek and Kambojas are Iranian, both whom are situated in paschima or west of India. This clearly shows that Kiratdesa(now Nepal) did not have the chatur-varna or four class social system that resulted in caste discrimination when Kirat was ruling Nepal. The chatur-varna (or caste system) entered Nepal with the arrival of Licchhavi from northern India in around 330 CE. The Licchavis introduced caste system and other vedic aryan culture in Nepal after defeating the Kirat. 14th century: By the turn of 1400 CE, the caste system have rooted deeply in Nepali society when the Indian Brahmin(Sankaracharya) from south India was appointed the head priest of Pashupathinath temple by the Malla King. The early Malla monarchs held absolute power by divine right. What this means is by Brahmins writing Malla King as the incarnation of Hindu God Vishnu inject fear into ordinary citizens and gave Malla King to rule over them as their God. King Jayasthiti Malla (1354-1395) also promulgated several laws and regulations (Manab Nyaya ...

Ratana Sutta 0001
寶石經Ratana Sutta The city of Vesali was afflicted by a famine, causing death, especially to the poor folk. Due to the presence of decaying corpses the evil spirits began to haunt the city; this was followed by a pestilence. Plagued by these three fears of famine, non-human beings and pestilence, the citizens sought the help of the Buddha who was then living at Rajagaha. Followed by a large number of monks including the Venerable Ananda, his attendant disciple, the Buddha came to the city of Vesali. With the arrival of the Master, there were torrential rains which swept away the putrefying corpses. The atmosphere became purified, the city was clean. Thereupon the Buddha delivered this Jewel Discourse (Ratana sutta) (2) to the Venerable Ananda, and gave him instructions as to how he should tour the city with the Licchavi citizens reciting the discourse as a mark of protection to the people of Vesali. The Venerable Ananda followed the instructions, and sprinkled the sanctified water from the Buddha's own alms bowl. As a consequence the evil spirits were exorcised, the pestilence subsided. Thereafter the Venerable Ananda returned with the citizens of Vesali to the Public hall where the Buddha and his disciples had assembled awaiting his arrival. There the Buddha recited the same Jewel Discourse to the gathering:

Shiva as Lord_of_Kirat
This video will give you idea that Shivaism(worshiping of mother nature) originated from Kirat culture. Just like how Gautama Buddha was from Shakya tribe, Jesus was from Judah tribe and Prophet Muhammad from Quraysh tribe, Shiva was from Kirat tribe. Kirateswor or Lord of Kirat is better known as "Paruhang" by Rai ethnic community of Nepal and "Tagera Nyingmaphuma" by the Limbu ethnic community of Nepal. But in Sanskirt he was renamed "Shiva" "Mahadev" "Shanker" and "Rudra" after he was adopted by the Brahmins to bring the non-aryan Kiratas and other tribes into Hinduism. Here's a Section in Hindu scriptures where it revealed the true identity of Shiva. This was one great mistake the writer of ancient scripture had overlooked. This section is commonly referred as Kiratarjuniyam(Kirat-Arjun battle) In this story, the Brahmin Vedavyasa told Pandavas brothers that they should pray to Shiva Mahadev Kirateswor and asked for a boon to win the great war (the battle of Kurukshetra) that was to take place very soon. Fill with desire and selfishness to win the war at any cost, Arjun the Aryan commander went to Mount Indrakila to worship Shiva for the special weapon known as "Pasupata Astra" from Shiva. Pleased with the penance of Arjun, Shiva appears before Arjun in the guise of Kirati hunter of his own tribe. Suddenly, Arjun saw a boar charging at him. Arjun thought that this fierce boar might have come to distract him from his mediation. Thinking this, Arjun picked up his bow ...

NEPAL, KATHMANDU: MONKEY TEMPLE
By Marco Petruzzelli www.tvreporter.it Swayambhunath (Devnagari:; sometimes romanized Swoyambhunath) is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu city. It is also known as the Monkey Temple as there are holy monkeys living in parts of the temple in the north-west. The Tibetan name for the site means 'Sublime Trees' (Wylie:Phags.pa Shing.kun), for the many varieties of trees found on the hill. However, Shing.kun may be a corruption of the local Newari name for the complex, Singgu, meaning 'self-sprung'. For the Buddhist Newars in whose mythological history and origin myth as well as day-to-day religious practice, Swayambhunath occupies a central position, it is probably the most sacred among Buddhist pilgrimage sites. For Tibetans and followers of Tibetan Buddhism, it second only to Boudhanath. The Swayambhunath complex consists of a stupa, a variety of shrines and temples, some dating back to the Licchavi period. A Tibetan monastery, museum and library are more recent additions. The stupa has Buddha's eyes and eyebrows painted on. Between them, there is something painted which looks like the nose - but is the Nepali symbol of 'unity', in the main Nepali language dialect[citation needed]. There are also shops, restaurants and hostels. The site has two access points: a long stairway, claimed to have 365 steps, leading directly to the main platform of the temple, which is from the top of the hill to the east; and a car road around ...

Violin Instrumental Jao Re Jog Tum Jao Re Lata Shankar Jaikishan Amrapali 1966
Amrapali is a 1966 historical Hindi film, directed by Lekh Tandon, starring Vyjayanthimala and Sunil Dutt as leads. It was based on the life of Amrapali (Ambapali), the nagarvadhu (royal courtesan) of Vaishali, the capital of the Licchavi republic in ancient India around 500 BC and Ajatashatru, the king of the Magadha empire, who falls in love with her. Though he destroys Vaishali to get her, she in the meantime has been transformed by her encounter with Gautama Buddha, of whom she becomes a disciple and an Arahant herself. Her story finds mention in old Pali texts and Buddhist traditions. The film was selected as the Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 39th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. Though the film wasn't a commercial success, in time it started being seen as classic and is remembered not just for its dramatic cinematography of war scenes by Dwarka Divecha, and Bhanu Athaiya's costumes for which she travelled to the Ajanta Caves, to seek references in Buddhist frescoes of the era, to create period costumes that subsequently became a template for costumes of that era, but also for the strong Anti-war sentiment, the film reveals in the end. Cast Vyjayanthimala - Amrapali Sunil Dutt - Magadh Samrat Ajatashatru Prem Nath - Senpati Veer of Magadh Bipin Gupta - Vaishali's Samrat Gajanan Jagirdar - Kulpati Mahanam KN Singh - Balbadra SIngh Madhavi - Raj Nartaki Mridula Rani - Raj Mata (Ajaat Shatru's Mother) Ruby Mayer - Vaishali's ...

Times of the Magadha dynasty.... Caves where Jarasandh Worshipped
Visiting the caves where Jarasandh used to seek solace from the lord.... the place is Rajgir..... The very place, the aura would take you to the days of Mahabharata... One can jst see from palaces, temples of one hill top to that of the other.. wave flags at one another.... princes hunting and learning various warring lessons... beautiful princesses with her frends in the gardens laughing to the rhythm of buoyant nature itself... Sages in meditation for years together and Celestial nymphs, maidens like Rambha dancing, seducing them to break their tapasya... And when war takes place warriors taking blessings from dear lord march towards the battle field either to emerge victorious or to erase themselves in the sands of time..... the vast land would give away to rivers of blood... The very outcome of battle can be surmised from their palaces and incase of infavourable outcomes the maidens, harem and the queens had the silent choice to give way her life or to be under a new lord... princes wont be spared of their life in most cases as for them there's no pride in getting defeated....... Magadha (Sanskrit: मगध) formed one of the sixteen Mahājanapadas (Sanskrit "Great Countries") or regions in ancient India. The core of the kingdom was the area of Bihar south of the Ganges; its first capital was Rajagriha (modern Rajgir) then Pataliputra (modern Patna). Magadha expanded to include most of Bihar and Bengal with the conquest of Licchavi and Anga respectively,[1] followed by ...
