Our discussion of socialism aims to:

  • examine its nature, looking particularly at the change in the system of ownership and how this impacts on life and society as a whole;

  • show how it is superior to capitalism both as a society and as an economic system;

  • defend it from its detractors;

  • show how social and economic developments are creating the conditions it needs to thrive; and

  • assess its future prospects.

It might seem presumptuous to call this The Socialism Web Site given the large number of sites that describe themselves as socialist or Marxist. However, I feel justified considering that virtually none of the latter provide any serious discussion of the subject. Odd? Well, yes. But then everything about "left" politics is totally odd. (For more on this oddness see Prospects for socialism.)
