One of hip hop's leading ladies, New York emcee Jean Grae shows us exactly what we ought to be vibing to next with the release of her newest song, "U&Me&EveryoneWeKnow", off her upcoming debut album, Cake or Death. Tightly woven around a breezy jazz piano melody, the track ushers listeners in with a gorgeous intro (produced by Greasy herself) combining a smokey horn and a medley of finely curated synths. This is all before the initial beat drops.

Since Genius, Grae has been laying the groundwork for what it takes to be recognized as a credible female emcee and  "U&Me&EveryoneWeKnow" seems to be part of a larger body of work we can't wait to see. Grae's bars are as strong as stainless steel; you'd have to give the track a few replays to gather all of what she is saying about love, loss and everything that comes in between. On account of the fine work Mebourne hip hop producer, M-Phazes does on this solid track, reader beware: the title of this song will get stuck in your head. Check out Grae's newest below.

A Lull's music is the concept of indie liberation. Not restricted or confined to anything, the band spreads their abilities by touching every layered sound in all shapes and sizes. Their freedom in experimenting with synthesizers and organic instruments are crafted to perfection. Austrian singer and songwriter, Anja Plaschg of Soap&Skin has a music video for her latest single "Boat Turns Toward The Port". Amidst the cluster of New Year's Eve plans that came forth throughout the past month, when I heard that Big Gigantic was going to be heading to Chicago for the night, my plans were set in stone. For the third time I was graced with the Colorado-based electro-hop duo's musical presence in 2011. And for the third time, I found myself blown away. The duo that is Big Gigantic is composed of saxophonist Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salkin. The duo has found a way to create a type of music that generously lends to a "new" form of electronic music -- one that incorporates live instruments alongside digital equipment.
