Evian Christ – Fuck It None of Ya’ll Don’t Rap

Posted on by Abeano Artist:

Start 2012 with a bang thanks to mystery man/woman Evian Christ. When most of us were trying to remember just what happened the night before at the work party on the 21st December Evian was uploading ‘Fuck It None of Ya’ll Don’t Rap’, a fast paced, footwork inspired track with a killer sample. Listen to it below via Dummy. Interestingly, a Joshua Leary track titled ‘Evian Christ’ appeared in a recent BNJMN mix for Urb.com

A$AP Rocky – Pretty Flacko

Posted on by sian Artist:

Sound the alarm! A$AP Rocky has followed in the footsteps of Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce and Katy Perry by creating his first alter-ego. *Sniff*, It’s such a special day. On new SpaceGhostPurrp production Pretty Flacko (“Man, this is the birth of pretty flacko” he mumbles) A$AP hypes himself as being famous as Mozart, riding on a go kart and in no danger of going anywhere anytime soon. “Some new wave to start the year off right” he wrote on www.longliveasap.com, just to confirm that he’s sure this year is going to be big “A$AP Mob album coming in february. Call us on a yacht 10 years from now we’ll still be on top.”

AraabMuzik – Live Session

Posted on by sian Artist:

AraabMuzik lives up to his own hype as “MVP of the MPC” in this Benji B clip from late last year (sorry, we nearly missed it). Live in the studio, the man otherwise known as Mr Abraham Orellana does his thing in a 10 minute session and took time to (humbly) chat about the transition from Youtube star, to producer and an artist releasing his own productions. “I’m working with a lot of people, but I branched out” he said, “now I’m just trying to start my own movement. It was never really the artists that inspired me it was the producers and listening to a lot of instrumentals, a lot of different styles of music. Growing up I listened to Swizz Beatz, Dr Dre, DJ Premier, y’know? It was a whole bunch of people I just listened to. They definitely inspired me a lot to make a different bunch of styles.” Of Electronic Dreams, his 2011 album, he explained that it was “just something [he's] been doing a long time /mashing up the hip hop with the techno and electronic music.”

“I started to put a little compilation together and pretty much dropped it on itunes to let everyone go check it out.” he says “I didn’t have no… plan… it was no promotion or nothing like that. It was something out the blue but I got a good response, a lot of people are definitely digging it”. He also revealed that a sequel, Electronic Reality is due this year and (no messing) he’s looking into insuring his hands.

Ukkonen – Detroit Alternative Reality Mix for No Pain in Pop

Posted on by Gavin W Artist:

Finnish electronic musician Ukkonen has restructured and reimagined a range of house classics in this inventive mix for No Pain in Pop. Often familiar but not often identifiable, even the biggest club bangers half-implied and fleeting, while it’s dark and intense rather than straightforwardly arms-in-the-air euphoric. As he explains,

“I had a vision, or a dream.. in which I saw and heard a Detroit from an alternate reality, where the only difference was in the music: odd numbers were the norm, nothing was ever in 4/4, nothing ever sounded quite right or wrong. People were going wild for it, the music and dancing couples spilling into the street. It was the early 90’s and a new sound had been developing, a multi-layered swirling mass of rhythm, never quite lining up, never quite falling apart. Simple melodies, that when played together created mind boggling and and ever evolving combinations. I could hear the music like I was actually there, but I think it was just a dream..”

Karin Dreijer Andersson – No Face

Posted on by Rhian Artist: /

Karin Dreijer Andersson (aka Fever Ray/her from The Knife) has donated a new track to a charity compilation, We Are The Works In Progress. Initially written as part of the soundtrack for Ingar Berman’s The Wolf Hour play, ‘No Face’ is a sparse, minimal song that revels in ominous atmospherics, gradually building layers to create something superbly eerie. Listen to the song here.

We Are The Works In Progress has been compiled by Blonde Redhead to support Japan in the wake of this year’s tsunami. Featuring contributions from the likes of Deerhunter, Four Tet and John Maus amongst others, it will be released digitally on January 10th and as a double LP in February (pre-order here). Proceeds go to the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund and Architecture for Humanity.

SBTRKT – Ride to Freedom

Posted on by Abeano Artist:

SBTRKT ditches his trusty guest vocalists for the b side to new single (and album track) ‘Hold On’.  Titled ‘Ride to Freedom’ (more biker road film than rave?) it’s 3 minutes of frantic analogue synth sounds. Another track, a “very special remix” is also set to feature. Listen below.

Frank Ocean – 4 Tears

Posted on by sian Artist:

Frank Ocean lists the reasons he does and doesn’t cry in this new song shared on his tumblr yesterday. He tells us he “won’t cry in the car, won’t cry in the bathroom stall, won’t cry when [he's] home alone” but there’s no word yet on whether the end of Titanic and the airport bit in Love Actually gets him going too.
