Rick Ross: - Hustlin' (Prince of Ballard Remix) Just South of Canada, I got one real month left of summer. I'm finally back at it on EarFuzz after far too long. Since I've only got one more month of summer left I have to make it count. Its like working on a paper the last night before its due. Every week I'm going to put up a BBQ Soundtrack post. This is the first one. This is the ubiquitous Rick Ross remixed by The Prince of Ballard (who makes crazy good remixes but not nearly enough). The man of a million music videos, he seems to be involved with damn near everyone. If there's anyone really living out The Secret its this guy. The more he talks about being Lex Luthor rich the more money he makes. The more he talks about being the best rapper the more people believe him. He's definitely not bad, but its his insane tales and personality that really make him weird and just downright interesting. This is the first time I'm trying out Hulkshare, let me know what you think.

Kanye West and Jay-Z - Otis This will be exploding across the net in a matter of moments. That's what makes what Kanye does so special. Sometimes he'll make something like H.A.M. which isn't terrible but doesn't quite defy the gods. But other times he hits it out of the park and does something no one else appears capable of doing at the moment. What's most impressive is that he can and does work with whoever he wants. RZA, Pete Rock, Jay-Z. Not only that, he wants to work with the geniuses that came before him. As much as he gets labeled narcissistic and crazy, he knows where he stands in the pantheon and knows he's built his music upon the footsteps of those before so he pulls them in and works with them as opposed to going alone.

Australia's Shazam (dang Australia is always synth-loc'd!) puts down squizzly synthastic funk lines right here: His remix of Sander Kleinenberg's 'The Healer' will reach you with clean disco guitar slink lines, and by 3 minutes in, loads of staccato square wave synth punches overwhelm. Flipping back to the synth side of moving forward - RAC pounds down this new Peter Bjorn and John jam 'Second Chance'. I don't feel the message in the lyrics, which repeatedly tell me "You can't count count on a second chance - the second chance will never be found." Hell, I'm on my third, fourth chance maybe - all seems good. Still it's a driving anthem about life,  jazzed up here in brightly colored synths and on the one piano stabs - the original version (posted here on Stereogum) is a bit gruffer.
