Earlier today, ER24's CEO, COO, Northern Region Manager and Polokwane Branch Manager were driving on the R518 when approximately 30 kilometres outside of Lephalale they came across a a single vehicle collision.
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 30's, appears to have lost control of the vehicle and it then left the road and collided into a tree. The front of the vehicle and passenger side where the man in his 50's was seated, was extensively damaged and crushed. They immediately started treatment on the injured men and because of poor reception and cell phone signal the branch manager had to drive approximately 15 kilometres to be able to call out to get more resources to the scene. Fortunately they were able to contact the local AMS and they sent out their medical helicopter to the scene so that they could rapidly transport the man in his 50's, whose injuries were the worse of the two.
The Jaws of Life needed to be used to cut away at the badly damaged vehicle after which both patients were safely removed. The vehicle's passenger was airlifted to the Provincial hospital in Polokwane while the driver was transported by ambulance to Mediclinic Limpopo for further care.

Lephalale
Lephalale or Ellisras is a coal mining town in the Limpopo province of South Africa immediately east of the Waterberg Coalfield. The town was established as Ellisras in 1960 and named after the original farm owners, Patrick Ellis and Piet Erasmus. In 2002, Ellisras was renamed Lephalale by the provincial government of Limpopo, after the main river that crosses the municipality. Lephalale is divided into three main subsections, Lephalale, Onverwacht and Marapong. Lephalale is derived from the Setswana meaning "to flow".
History
1550 to 1750
Late Iron Age cattle posts belonging to the Letsibogo ceramic facies have been found in the area. Some rock engravings at Nelsonkop have been recorded.
1930s
The name Ellisras origins from a combination of the surnames of Patric Ellis and Piet Erasmus who settled in the 1930s on the farm Waterkloof 502LQ. Since the opening of the main route between Vaalwater and Stockpoort during 1929 a railway bus stop developed on the farm. The central function of the newly established nodes became more evident and other facilities such as schools, churches and shops were established on the farm. Subdivision of the farm started and due to the specific locality of the river, all newly created portions have a river frontage which had a definite influence on the urban form/shape of Ellisras today.

Safarilands Game Reserve is a relatively new Game Reserve nestled at the foothills of the malaria free Waterberg Mountains just 40km from Lephalale. Containing three of the “Big Five” namely White Rhino, Leopard and Buffalo, and then to include Hippo and Crocodile to make up the dangerous seven. Guests can choose from a variety of lodges to cater for their every need and within an affordable budget. Land marked by the flat-topped Ga-Bobididi Hills, Safarilands is well- known from every direction in the Limpopo Province.
Initiated by international investors Robert and Catherine DuHadaway in 2004, Safarilands covers 7400 hectares of prime Bushveld. The changing face from cattle ranch to game reserve has created a magnificent platform on which to build a variety of habitats for plains game and a good mixture of diverse habitats for many large and small animals alike.
Between the harsh dry western climate and the humid eastern climate of Southern Africa, the combined eco-zones give one a broad mixture of habitats and diverse geology. Safarilands boasts a wide range of mammals, birds, insects and reptiles which flourish in the area together creating a rich biodiversity. Adding further value to the area is the Palala River which host several amphibian and fish species, allowing fishermen to enjoy a full day of fun. The bird count is already in excess of over 300 species with the most popular bird sightings on the Palala River or in each lodges’ own perimeter.
