Subscribe to RSS - Faith-Based Prison Programs

Prison inmates have the right to read religious material, use religious implements and visit with clergy and religious counselors, consistent with the security needs of the correctional facility. However, prisons, as government-run institutions, should not sponsor programs designed to indoctrinate inmates into a single faith. Religious programs run by volunteers are acceptable, but all faiths (and equivalent secular philosophies) should be given equal access to the facility.
