Generation Reinvention 28: Marketing to Boomers through Online Engagement and Digital Media
On June 7, 2011
Podcast: Download
This time Generation Reinvention explores the power of online engagement to reach and sell to Boomers. My guest has some strong opinions about this marketing opportunity:
“Today, more than ever, marketers need a way to increase the return on their marketing investments. Sometimes, uncertain times call for the most certain measures.
“Baby boomers continue to be the most powerful, vibrant consumers in the marketplace, despite an increasingly challenging economy, and will be for many years to come. Boomers are deeply engaged with everything the Internet has to offer, making interactive marketing channels the most effective and efficient method to connect with these consumers. Positioning your brand to meaningfully engage Baby Boomers online is the key to producing results reflective of this powerful consumer group.”
David Weigelt co-founded Immersion Active in 1998 with the intent of using the Internet to create a more relevant means of communication between consumers and brands. Immersion Active is the only interactive agency in the United States solely focused on Boomers and seniors. Since its founding, Immersion Active has focused on helping companies leverage the Internet to connect with consumers through dynamic interactive experiences.
At Immersion Active, his responsibility is that of marketing strategy and business development. David works with clients to help them define their needs and goals, as well as providing them with insight on integrating digital media into their current marketing initiatives. In the spring of 2009, David, along with Immersion Active partner Jonathan Boehman, released his first book on how to engage mature consumers online through a developmental relationship marketing approach. Entitled Dot Boom: Marketing to Baby Boomers through Meaningful Online Engagement, the book has received praise from national and international marketing notables, including Microsoft, PBS, and AARP.
David attended McDaniel College where he has also taught as an adjunct professor. He is a founding board member of IMMN (International Mature Marketing Network) and annual judge for the WEBBY Awards.
