Off of the great label Woodsist Records , comes the cool-named San Fran duo The Art Museums. Josh Alper & Glenn Donaldson are The Art Museums, and Rough Frame is their debut LP with Woodsist. Their music is a strange sort of lo-fi/pop, with a weak drum machine as the backbone, fun little guitar licks here and there, and quirky harmonies throughout. But overall, the music is still fun and easy to enjoy, and doesn’t need to be taken too seriously. I absolutely dug their Woodsist write-up, “They would make a hi-fi studio record if they had the money, but reviewers would probably still say it was lo-fi. The Art Museums ARE into: art, poetry, WHAAM records & films about Mods…The Art Museums ARE NOT into: flared trousers, drip coffee, dirty sneakers.” This LP is pretty short in length, but Rough Frame with its lovable catchy tunes shows promise for future endeavors. It seems like the best place to order this is either from Woodsist’s Myspace or from Midheaven.
