Micah Peitla-Wiggs led off the game for Eastlake with a solo HR (0:14). Eastlake hit six home runs including back-to-back home runs (1:41) in the 3rd inning. Two home runs reached the other field (2:02, 3:31). Both teams were undefeated at 1-0 going into this winners' bracket game. Grant Holman is 6' 4", 166 lb and 13 years old. Eastlake was the 10th team from San Diego to reach the World Series Tournament and the 5th team to reach the World Series Championship since 1947. Eastlake lost to Japan 6-4 in the final. Tijuana, Mexico reached the International Championship losing to Japan so two of the top four teams in the world were only 13 miles apart. Some of the players on the Eastlake team including Giancarlo Cortez have played with players on the Tijuana team in the past. The Tijuana team was the first team from Tijuana to reach the World Series Tournament, 27th team from Mexico to reach the World Series Tournament. Tijuana would place 3rd, defeating Connecticut 15-14.
