    • Get a Sneak Peek at the Buzziest Midseason Shows

If it weren't for zombies, foul-mouthed cartoon kids, and shirtless warrior slaves, people would be huddled around a warm plasma screen on those cold winter's nights just taking in reality show after reality show. The most anticipated midseason show -- as determined by searches on Yahoo! -- is "Dancing With the Stars," but Season 14 is a hop, skip, and a three-month fox trot away. Then there are the favorite standbys: "The Amazing Race," "Teen Mom," and "American Idol."

While those reap the most online attention, there are some upcoming gems -- both reality and fictional -- where the buzz is accelerating mighty fast. Consider tinkering with the DVR options to include these shows, coming very soon to a channel near you:

      1. "Celebrity Wife Swap" (ABC, January 3). Doesn't Hollywood already do wife swaps? The ante is upped with the celebrity -- or notoriety -- angle. Possibly the most mind-blowing exchange so surreal that this would air in both reality and alternate realities: the

    • The Best TV Shows of 2011

We love TV. You have to when you watch as much of it as we do. And one of the side effects of viewing an unhealthy amount of TV is you become evangelical about anything that stands out from the mind-numbing masses. So pardon us a moment while we get back up on our soapbox to reflect on the shows that impressed us most this year. We believe from the bottom of our hearts to the tips of our remote controls that if you give these TV treats a taste, you'll soon be hungry for more. (And if you disagree, tweet us at @YahooTV and let us know what's missing from our list!)

    • Vivien had a very unnatural birth this season on "American Horror Story" (Mike Ansell/FX)

Vivien had a very unnatural birth this season on "American Horror Story" (Mike Ansell/FX)

It's quite a task to choose the craziest moments from the freshman season of FX's "American Horror Story"; this show has been nothing but crazy moments! But we managed to narrow down the highlights of one of the wildest TV seasons we can remember. Just in time for this week's sure-to-be-insane season finale, we're looking back at the creepiest, freakiest, most unforgettable moments of "Horror Story's" first season. (Beware: Many spoilers lurk below.)

      You Want Brains With That?
As Vivien's demon seed grew rapidly within her womb, Moira insisted on cooking her some truly disgusting foods to help with the pregnancy. At first, Vivien turned down the maid's fried sweetbreads, but the mom-to-be eventually gave in and chowed down on some cow brains. Like, an entire raw cow's brain. She seemed to enjoy it (she ate up every morsel), but we're still going to leave that dish off our holiday menus.

    • The 10 Worst TV Shows of 2011

As the holiday season approaches, we naturally want to celebrate all the great TV shows we've enjoyed this year. But we also can't let the year end without calling the networks to task for some truly awful programming. It's a dirty job, but we're rolling up our sleeves and digging up the ten very worst shows to trudge their way across our flat-screens this year.

First, some dishonorable mentions: "Man Up!" (beware of any show that tries to distract you with unnecessary punctuation); "Famous Food" (we don't want Heidi Montag touching our food, thank you very much); "Last Man Standing" (if they just re-ran old "Home Improvement" episodes instead, do you think anyone would notice?); "The World According to Paris" (we want to thank the American public for rejecting this show and hopefully making Paris Hilton go away forever).

    • Yahoo! TV Giveaway: Chelsea Handler Books From ‘After Lately’

The Chelsea Handler empire continues to expand: The potty-mouthed comedienne has now paired her hit E! talk show with "After Lately," a mockumentary-style comedy that goes behind the scenes with her and her "Chelsea Lately" co-stars. And with Season 2 of "After Lately" in full swing (Sundays at 11pm on E!), you can keep the laughs going off the air as well by entering this week's Yahoo! TV giveaway; we're handing out five copies of Handler's latest bestselling book, "Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang."

"Bang Bang" collects Handler's hilarious essays on everything from her childhood to the perils of fame. She tells of writing a school report on Reaganomics in order to earn a Cabbage Patch Kids doll, playing an epic prank on her boyfriend that involved a fake autopsy, and adopting her adorable dog, Chunk (who shares the book's cover with her).

    • Claire Danes plays a paranoid CIA agent on "Homeland" (Kent Smith/Showtime)

Claire Danes plays a paranoid CIA agent on "Homeland" (Kent Smith/Showtime)

The first season of "Homeland" has been powerful, upsetting, dramatic, intense, and filled with jaw-dropping surprises. We've been captivated every single minute, so in honor of one of our very favorite shows of the year (if not the last several years), we're handing out superlatives for the moments that stood out the most. (Spoiler warning for those who haven't seen every one of the first eleven episodes.)

      Most Depressing Dinner
Saul's wife left him and he became even more of a workaholic than before -- so much so that he had nothing to go home for. He ended up staying in his office late at night, scouring the empty CIA fridge, only to end up eating peanut butter straight from the jar -- off a ruler.
