H&M Versace: Already sold out
If you wanted to get your hands on some discount Versace by checking out their collaboration with high street H&M, you’re already too late.
Despite only hitting stores yesterday, the collection sold out in 30 minutes and the online website jammed, and you’ve guessed they’re already on eBay for double the price.
Donatella Versace herself made an appearance at London’s Regent St store dressed in her Versace x H&M pink leather dress and a studded leather coat from the range while sales assistants also followed suit and dressed in top-to-toe Versace designs.
As the website crashed, a spokesman took to Twitter to apologise for “technical problems”, saying they were “working hard to solve them.”
In some stores, customers were allocated 10 muiinute shopping windows with some stores evening blowing a whistle to let shoppers know their time slot was up.
But many male shoppers were left disappointed when they found that a lot of the men’s collection was not to be found in the store.
Donatella Versace said, “The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere. For the collaboration we’ve brought back from the archives, as well as from more recent collections, some of the icons of Versace, such as the bright prints, the Greek key and daring cuts. I can’t wait to see how H&M’s wide audience will make these pieces their own.”
Glasto with clean clothes?
Normally, part of going to Glastonbury is coupled with muddy clothes and quite frankly, a bit of mud everywhere.
If you’re a mud lover you will be interested to hear of plans to intall washing machines on site.
Festival boss Michael Eavis has agreed to install washing machines at the Worthy Farm site for the next festival which returns in 2013.
Organisers are planning to introduce them so that fans are able to look nice and clean while gazing at their idols on the Pyramid stage instead of filthy and mud covered.
Glastonbury’s operations director, Melvin Benn, said, “Older fans are getting far more demanding and we have to respond. That means better toilets and now washing machine facilities.”
Alesha Dixon is Avon’s new face
She is seen every Saturday and Sunday night with flawless skin and perfect make up so it’s no wonder Avon chose Strictly Come Dancing’s Alesha Dixon as their latest face.
The 33-year-old has been given a new role of Beauty and Empowerment Ambassador for the UK and Ireland while she will also act as spokeswoman for Avon’s make-up category and support domestic violence initiatives.
She will join the likes of Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas and Hollywood A-lister Reese Witherspoon in representing the brand whose UK division has donated over £500,000 to its charity partners Refuge, Women’s Aid and UN WOMEN, to help end violence against women.
Alesha said, “I’m so incredibly proud to partner with Avon, a company that empowers women and brings beauty to their lives. Being the face of Avon make-up means I’ve discovered so many amazing beauty treats that I can’t wait to share. But more importantly Avon has a real heart and a true passion for helping to improve the lives of women, so I hope to make a difference through generating awareness for a cause that is so close to me.”
Alesha will appear in brochures from February 2012.
Doctor Who: The movie
If you’re a Doctor Who fan, then you’re in for a treat as the plans have been set in motion to turn it into a Hollywood blockbuster.
David Yates is searching for writers to chart a new chapter for the Doctor.
If you’re a Matt Smith fan though, you won’t be happy as he is not in the pipeline to take on the starring role.
Yates has stated that the film will not follow on from the popular TV series and indicated that Harry Potter scriptwriter Steve Kloves could land the job of writing the new film.
The film will be made in co-operation with the BBC withYates saying the film will remain loyal to its roots even if an American took on the script. He said, “‘We want a British sensibility, but having said that, Steve Kloves wrote the Potter films and captured that British sensibility perfectly, so we are looking at American writers too. We’re looking at writers now. We’re going to spend two to three years to get it right,’ he said. ‘It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena.”
Yates directed the final two parts of the Potter films.
Get the Pippa look fast with bum shaping knickers
More than 6 months later and we’re still talking about it and obsessing over how to get that bum of Pippa Middleton’s but Debenhams have come up with a solution.
And sigh a big relief ladies because it doesn’t involve some magical diet or exercise plan, it involves a bit of shopping.
The knickers are designed to add curves in all the right places in pretty much the same way as a paded bra.
The Invisible Shaping Bum Boosters cost £18.50 and promise to deliver a two-inch increase in the wearer’s vital statistics. They say the secret is the “discreet, cheek-enhancing structures built into the back of the lining [to] give extra bulk and curvature, turning a flat bottom into rear of the year.”
A spokesman for Debenhams said, “Widely publicised photographs of Pippa’s shapely behind have made ‘bum envy’ a part of everyday conversation for women all over the UK. She has set the standard for how a perfect rear should appear.”
Kate Moss’ sister set to emulate her success as she signs with model agency
Her sister is one of the most famous supermodel’s in the world and when she got married earlier this year, it set up a future that looks more than rosy for Lottie.
Moss was famously discovered at 14 years old and Lottie is about to turn 14 next year beating Moss to it as she has signed a deal with a modelling agency that looks set to propel her to supermodel stardom and emulate her sister.
Father Peter Moss said it was “early days” as far her any future plans were concerned, though Lottie had a ”lovely time” on the test shoot, which took place last month.
He explained added, “Storm, Kate’s agent, felt that it was worth giving Lottie a test shoot and seeing how she turned out. She had a lovely time and she seemed to come out quite well – so everybody’s happy so far. It will be very strictly controlled because she’s not 14 yet so it’s very early days. It will all be left to Sarah and Simon at Storm to decide what the best way ahead is. So we’re going to have a chat with them later in the year, possibly before Christmas, just to decide how to go forward.”
It looks like Lottie could be in for an even better experience as it is rumoured that Mario Testino is already being lined-up to shoot her for her next photoshoot.
Lottie was one of 15 bridesmaids at Moss’ wedding to Jamie Hince in Southrop, Gloucesterhire at the beginning of July.
As Frankie Cocozza leaves X Factor, week one rejects get to be voted BACK IN!
Oh The X Factor sure is making sure it gets a lot of publicity and it looks like it may be winning back viewers as last weekend saw it beat Strictly in the ratings for the first time in weeks.
This weekend looks set to follow that trend with the news that wildchild Frankie Cocozza was booted out from the show because he broke one of their “golden rules.”
A stroke of luck for one of the four acts who were ousted by their mentors way back in week one. Cast your mind back and remember the furore when Amelia Lily, Jonjo Kerr, 2 Shoes and James Michael were kicked out by the judges.
Each of the four acts were kicked out of the competition despite never facing a public vote. The X Factor producers deem this a fair way to see who the public want back in the show.
Details of how the phone vote will work will be revealed today with the winner joining back in the show this weekend.
A spokesman said, ‘The four acts have never been in a public vote so, with Frankie leaving the competition, this is an opportunity for the public to decide who comes back to the show.”
Our money’s on Amelia being voted back in and who knows, will she even go on to win the show?
Pudsey bear gets a designer makeover for Children In Need this year
His yellow bandaged face is synonymous with Children In Need, but Pudsey bear, is the receiver of a designer makeover this year.
The mascot of the Children in Need telethon has been given a makeover by some of the biggest names in fashion including Erdem, Mulberry, Louis Vuitton and Giles Deacon, with designs ranging from leather, to florals to checks to on-trend metallic material.
All the bears are on display at Liberty in London and will be auctioned online, with a reserve price of £200. The money, of course, will go to Children In Need.
The telethon is on BBC on November 18th.
The paper Xmas tree in demand
When you think Christmas tree you normally think of a green tree reminiscent of trees on the mountainside laden with snow but this year’s must have Christmas tree is in fact made out of paper!
It’s also rather sparse but it’s proving to be a bit of a hit at John Lewis.
The tree has upped its sales on last year by 238 per cent and it’s not cheap either, costing up to £85. It’s even out selling it’s more traditional fake, plastic trees.
John Lewis said that the demand was high following its sales last year and customers were even contacting stores as early as June to ask when it would become available. The second best seller at John Lewis is a 2ft tree intended for table tops while a more conventional, 4ft fake green tree comes in third.
A spokesman said, “Many households now display two or more Christmas trees in different rooms of the home and even outdoors. We believe the popularity of the paper tree is down to the rise of the “multi- tree household.”
The paper tree is available in two heights – a 4ft version for £50 and a 7ft tree at £85.
X Factor shock as Johnny and The Risk are sent home
It was a double elimination set to shock and boost ratings and X Factor chiefs must have been pleased with the outcome as viewers were shocked when Johnny Robinson and boyband The Risk were sent home last night.
The two acts and Kitty Brucknell were in the bottom three with The Risk being sent home immediately after receiving the lowest amount of votes.
Unemployed Robinson, 45, sang The Righteous Brothers’ Unchained Melody, while Brucknell, 26, sang Kelly Clarkson’s Beautiful Disaster.
Robinson and Brucknell then had to sing off with their own mentor being forced to choose between the pair. Louis Walsh said his decision was based on who he believed could sell albums and fill arenas and he sent home Robinson.
Fans were outraged when viewers saved Frankie Cocozza who has been the subject of booing after his performances and on the sister show, The Xtra Factor.
The double elimintation comes as The X Factor finally managed to beat Strictly Come Dancing in the ratings war on Saturday night.
A peak of 11million tuned in to watch the Club Classics-themed week on X Factor, compared to 10.5million with Strictly on BBC.
