Welcome to UKNova!

2011-11-29 13:44 GMT: Voting Closed. Presenters Wanted!

Voting is now closed! Many thanks to all those who voted in the UKNova Awards polls this year, the turnout was very high and hopefully the competition for every award will be equally exciting too!

To hear the results of the votes, tune in to UKNova Radio on Sunday December 11th at 7pm GMT, 2pm EST or 1pm CST. (Other time zones are available. Get your crisps and beer in early.)

Award Presenters Wanted!

The Awards Team are looking for people to help out in presenting the awards this year. This is YOUR chance to take part in the glitziest and sparkliest night of the UKNova year! So if you would like your dulcet tones to be broadcast on UKNova Radio, take a look at this thread for some basic details and send a PM to the Awards Team to let them know of your interest. You will need to record a short audio file to send in to the show, but technical help is available, and I am sure it can be done via Skype etc (maybe even by phone) if you prefer. There are no webcams involved, so you do not HAVE to be dressed in dinner jacket or that little black off-the-shoulder number to present an award - but if that is standard evening wear where you live, so much the better!

Please be quick though - the team will be starting to pull the show together very soon.

Remember: the Awards Show this year will be presented at 7pm GMT on Sunday 11th December by UKNR DJ extraordinaire Ack (Ackerdackerly), while the pre-show-warm-up-show show will take place one hour earlier. So come along and be warmed up, and then be excited by the glamour and showbizness of it all on the night!

2011-11-18 21:33 GMT: BBC Children in Need Appeal

Tonight sees the culmination of the BBC's 2011 Children in Need Appeal, when almost the entire evening's output on BBC1 gets turned over to Pudsey Bear & Terry Wogan and the familiar fund-raising extravaganza aimed at improving the lives of disadvantaged children all over the UK.

We all know that we are living in difficult financial times; few of us will not have been affected by the global economic downturn which seems to be amongst the news headlines every day. But we ask you every year to support the BBC appeal and this year is no different.

The evening's entertainment will be uploaded by a group of volunteer cappers, so if you download any of it - or even if you don't! - please consider making a donation to Children in Need. There are many different ways to donate, please see the BBC Children in Need website for details: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey

Thanks.

You can now find all of this year's BBC Children in Need programmes here.

2011-11-08 12:14 GMT: Vote! Vote! Vote!

Voting in the 2011 UKNova Awards is OPEN!! So get voting and help make YOUR favourite the number 1 choice. Voting will close on Sunday 27th November - don't miss out!

2011-11-01 16:05 GMT: Phew - getting back to normal. But have you nominated yet?

It's a relief to be slowly regaining control of the site - the Title Goblin has been booted for a good long time so if your title was changed you can expect it to go back to normal as soon as the Title Fairy gets around to you - he/she has a lot of work on their hands.

But as one event passes, another looms ...

Nominations for the 2011 UKNova Awards are now closed!!!

If you have not yet nominated your favourites, you are too late for this year!

But voting will open on Monday morning (UK time) and you will be able to cast your votes in this year's awards. Watch this space!!

2011-10-16 11:29 BST: The roar of the greasepaint, the smell of the crowd ... it's the UKNova Awards 2011 !!!

The 8th UKNova Awards ceremony is nearly upon us!! The awards are your chance to tell us what your favourite television show is, to tell us who you think is the UKN user of the year, vote for your favourite UKNR DJ, and your chance to reread that amusing thread about Danny LaRue's socks that so caught your fancy (it takes all sorts!) back in February.

As if that doesn't sound appealing enough, we've added some new categories to the list for this year to broaden the scope of the awards and make them a wee bit more interesting (as IF that were possible!!!). This year's live awards radio show will be hosted by the lovely and talented Ack (Ackerdackerly) on Sunday December 11th at 7pm GMT, 2pm EST or 1pm CST. (Other time zones are available. Get your crisps and beer in early.)

You only have a couple of weeks to get your nominations in!!

Nominations are open now and for the next two weeks. After that there will be a short break until the 5th of November at which point the polls will open and you'll have 3 weeks to vote. Finally there will be a break of 2 weeks while the radio show is put together and on Sunday December 11th at 7pm (UK time) the awards will be presented. Prior to that at 6pm there will be an awards pre-show with hoopla and ballyhoo warming you up for the impending festivities.

So please help us to ensure the awards are another UKNova event to remember.
