Timothy Leary
Famed as the father of LSD, Timothy Leary was many things during his life. Harvard psychologist, best-selling writer, great thinker, outspoken drug advocate and regular law-breaker which saw him jailed in no less than 29 prisons around the world. His phrase “turn on, tune in, drop out” described a generation. In this fascinating deathbed interview, Leary ponders his imminent demise. “I’ve always been interested in taboos. In the 1920s and 30s sex was the taboo. It was drugs were the 60s and 70s. Dying is now. No-one want to think about it. It’s exciting. It’s the biggest decision you make in your life, the how and when and who you do it with. Dying with dignity is a big issue.” He then had friends announce his death over the internet.
