We need to build a grassroots up campaign to repudiate this illegitimate debt.

Let your voice be heardThe people at the top of our society want us all to remain quiet and passive, to accept this debt as ours. They hope enough of our children and youth will simply leave the country, as they previously forced our uncles and aunts, our brothers and sisters, to leave Ireland to look for a living. We must not remain silent. We must make our voices heard, loud and clear. Everyone has a voice; together we can make them listen. Everyone has a role to play. We can change how our country is run, and who it is run for. Let your voice be heard. Together we can make a difference.

►Inform yourself of what the debt means to you and your family.

► Get your friends together. Invite a speaker from Repudiate the Debt to come and speak.

Download a copy of our street petition and collect signtures before returning the completed petition to us.

► Get your trade union branch, women’s group, children’s and toddlers’ group, residents’ organisation, book club, professional association, local business group, football, chess or club to write to local politicians demanding a referendum on this debt.

► Do you know someone famous who might sponsor the campaign, click here for a letter to send them.

► Set up a local debate in your area between our campaign and local politicians.

► Write letters to local newspapers. Click here to download a sample letter.

► Get onto the local radio station and just put forward your own experience—a couple of small points.

► Making connections through everyday experiences is a great way to spread the word about the Repudiate the Debt Campaign. Distribute the campaign business card.

► Get copies of the Repudiate the Debt booklet into your local newsagents.

► Download this poster and put it in your front window or in local shop windows.

► Set up a Repudiate the Debt group in your area.

► Forward a link to this site to your friends, colleagues and family members, at home and abroad.

► Fancy engaging in some guerrilla art? Download and cut out our stencils…

We want to ensure that this campaign gets into every village, town and city of our country. Don’t let them demoralise and beat us down. We can give hope and support to each other. Together we can build a new and better Ireland for our children. If you have any suggestions or ideas about how we can reach out and support and encourage our people to raise their voices, we would more than welcome them.

The rich and powerful appear to be in control because we are not organised. Let us organise together and build our own future, a future for ourselves and our children in our own country. We owe it to them.
