Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ) engages individual Jews, key Jewish institutions, and key Jewish community leaders in the fight to pursue and win racial and economic justice in partnership with Jewish and allied people of color, low-income and immigrant communities in New York City.

JFREJ defends Occupy Wall Street in the New York Times!

Read about JFREJ in the New York Times article, "Cries of Antisemitism, but Not at Zuccotti Park"

Right-wing representatives from the Republican National Committee to Rush Limbaugh have tried to discount the Occupy Wall Street movement by claiming it is antisemitic at its core. Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, working alongside Occupy Wall Street organizers and Occupy Judaism, is fighting this accusation.

Welcome to the new JFREJ.org!

JFREJ has finally launched the new and improved JFREJ.org! We hope the redeveloped content and design make it easy for you to learn more about JFREJ and engage with us as our organization grows and changes.

Special thanks to our web design team of collaborators. We could not have done it without you: Shira Epstein, Sarah Fields and Ari Rosenbaum.

Sukkot at Occupy Wall Street

Our Sukkot celebration at Occupy Wall Street has begun! Last night, JFREJ members slept at Zuccotti Park, weathering the cold and rain to keep our sukkah standing. We are setting a precedent at Occupy Wall Street to enable covered structures. With your help, we may make possible the use of tents througout the park! Contact Rachel at Rachel@jfrej.org to get involved.

Below is the schedule of events throughout the festival. This schedule can also be found on the JFREJ Facebook page. We will update it throughout the week.

A Message from JFREJ

L’shana Tova!

For the nearly 1,000 of you who were part of Kol Nidre services at Occupy Wall Street, who turned practice into protest, you know that 5772 has begun with a demand for justice. Let us feed and nurture that energy, continue to join with others to sustain it, and ensure that 5772 will be a year of great change!

Harnessing our energy

People around the world are reading about our historic Kol Nidre service. We were featured in the Huffington Post (Read the article here), and in blog posts, magazine articles, and tweets from New York to London to the Middle East. More video and article links can be found on the JFREJ Facebook page.
