Despite the veritable onslaught of zombie games we've received over recent years, they've all continued to tread the same "Zombie killin' is grrreeat fun!" path. Apparently, when the zombies do arrive, we'll be bludgeoning them with bats with hearty grins, chopping at them with meat cleavers as we giggle with glee and generally just having a good time - oh, and we're likely to do it in groups of four. Some enterprising hackers have successfully created 128-player servers for the Battlefield 3 Beta. Players using the Beta are only supposed to have access to the 32-player Operation Metro map in Rush mode. Blizzard's controversial "auction house" feature for Diablo III could be getting some very close attention from the South Korean Government. Dual Shockers reports that the Korean National Assembly has just received a report from the Game Rating Board that argues features like the auction house are tantamount to gambling, and thus, are in direct violation of Korean law. Rockstar has provided some details about how the trademark slow-motion, time-warping "Bullet Time" feature of previous Max Payne games will be incorporated into the latest installment. Speaking to IGN, art director Rob Nelson said Bullet Time would be upgraded with more detail, realism and individually modeled bullets. Read More »

Mojang, the developer of Minecraft, has laid out its defense for its copyright lawsuit against ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda. ZeniMax is taking Mojang to court over an alleged trademark infringement, claiming Mojang's upcoming game "Scrolls" sounds too similar to the Bethesda IP "The Elder Scrolls". EA has released a new Battlefield 3 video specifically exploring the game's social browser, Battlelog. The browser acts much like a BF3 Facebook page, but it also tracks statistics, features leaderboards and, if you're a PC player, includes a server list and the option to create "parties". Eurogamer has posted a lengthy article looking at the prevalence of video game piracy on the PC. The report features interviews with various industry figures, who each give their opinion on how bad PC piracy really is. Reinhard Blaukovitsch from Sony DADC says that up to 80% of all PC games are illegitimate copies, while Christian Svensson from Capcom puts the figure as high as 90% for certain titles. Read More »
