The present UK political strategies all consist of cabinet reshuffles and brand new faces being seen in the parliament. Labor leader Ed Miliband transpired all these changes with many new MPs promoted to the shadow cabinet. The biggest positions in the cabinet of chief secretary of treasury and business minister was handed over by Ed to Rachel Reeves and Chuka Umunnna respectively, Such drastic changes could come into effect because of a new bill passed through the parliament that allowed power to the labor leader to appoint members to the shadow cabinet without a ballot contest in the party.

While these changes have been affected in the shadow cabinet however, some of them have been subject to controversy and others were heralded as a fresh change. For example the position of the shadow energy secretary was given into the hands of a woman MP by the name of Caroline Flint who is among the 11 women members elected onto this shadow board of 27 members. In his defense, Ed said that the promotion of so many new members who were taken in 2010 shows just how talented the new batch of the Labor party is.

With these appointments he plans to get the governments and the common person’s attention to what a younger cabinet can do for the country in alleviating common problems and the economic condition. With such a cabinet in place, it seems that the Labor party is redefining the politics of the United Kingdom demanding greater accountability of the present government and speaking in the collective voice of the people and their families.
