The Morning Juberish
Good morning Vietnam! Another weekend dead and buried. R.I.P. I'd love to pretend that I did something productive with mine. So I will. I did something productive over the weekend. The details are classified. Though, I did have a brief moment of both extreme annoyance and pride. My dog decided he wanted to break my arms and neck by pulling me at top speed down the street for a 1/4 mile. Surely Timmy fell down the well again, right? Nein! He pulled me to a pile of bacon! What kind of moron dumps perfectly good bacon on the street? So the mutt and I copped a squat on the sidewalk to partake in a greasy feast. Hmm, would that be considered sloppy seconds?

On to the entertainment! Check out this high-larious video sent in by our pal in Estonia. It's so very wrong (NSFW). And the embed below is just so evil that you couldn't help but love it.

Magicka Sale, Going Once, Going Twice...
This is the last day for the Paradox Interactive Publisher sale on Steam (this being Sunday, because I'm cheating on the dates rather than starting a new day for news!). You have until Monday at 10:00 AM Pacific time to grab Magicka and the Magicka Collection for 75% off. The Magicka Collection is going for $6.24 USD; or $1.99 USD for the Gamer Bundle DLC robe package if you already own the base game and its expansion.

Valve Steams Ahead - 35 Million Active Steam Users And 25+ Job Openings
- 30 Comments
There have been some changes to the Valve site. An awful lot of job vacancies have suddenly opened up, including "Food Services" and "Psychologist" positions. These sort of additions point very definitely towards an expansion of Valve as a company.

Other points of intrigue include the revelation that the active Steam userbase has now breached 35 million - an impressive number - and an indication that the Source engine will be improved further.

Thanks go to "angular graphics" of NeoGAF for bringing the news to my eyes.

The Architecture Behind Intel's Ivy Bridge
- 12 Comments
An article at Anandtech rounds up the information surrounding the architecture of Ivy Bridge, the new 22nm processor from Intel, following the 2011 Intel Developer Forum.

The new CPU will be backwards compatible with current Sandy Bridge LGA-1155 socket motherboards, but a new motherboard would be necessary in order to utilise PCI-E 3.0 and native USB 3.0. We could apparently see performance gains of up to 10% above the current range of Sandy Bridge chips at the same price point. Details are also given about overclocking, which four of the six different chipsets will support.

I'm rather looking forward to benchmarks from the new range of Bulldozer processors from AMD, which have been due for release for roughly five million years. Intel have been the horse to back for a while now, but I'd like to see the balance shift a bit. I like rooting for the underdog. Underhorse?

The first in a series of video Q&As; about the upcoming Saints Row: The Third is full of questions, answers and a sprinkling of gameplay footage.

If you want to ask a question for future Q&As; (apparently they'll be released every couple of weeks), you can head over to the official forum.

"PC Gamer Digital" - Beta Released On Steam
- 20 Comments
There are new and confusing things afoot in the world of Steam - a beta has been released of a new digital platform by PC Gamer. Initially it seemed that I'd be left completely in the dark about the whole thing due to my location outside of the US (where the beta is currently restricted), with even the descriptive Steam page eluding me, but a workaround means that anybody anywhere can click this link and see the PC Gamer Digital beta page.

Even after reading the 300 words there, I remain slightly baffled about what PC Gamer Digital actually is. I presume a chunk of the material will be video-related, with some degree of interactivity - a line of blurb says "In PC Gamer Digital, you'll do, not read or watch". I imagine the key will be in how the information is linked together, but the idea - however intangible it may be in its current description - sounds pretty innovative and interesting.

The download is 2.2GB. If you fall within regional reach, you might like to opt-in to the beta. If you do, you should report back here with your findings.

Good Morrow! Keyboards, Valve & Alien Chicks
- 42 Comments
There's a test that illustrates the supposed quality of your keyboard. I have taken it and I expect each of you to take it too. I'm collecting the information for no knowable reason. Here is the test.

Hold down both shift keys simultaneously and proceed to type the following sentence: THE SMALL BROWN FOX JUMPED OVER THE LAZY DOG.

Although my keyboard was (relatively) cheap, I like it because it's virtually planar. I don't have to put much effort into causing each key to dimple inward due to the very small gap between the keys and the base of the keyboard, and there's no mountain for my hands to climb tiringly every single day. These things appeal to me. However, upon putting it through its lettery paces using the aforementioned litmus test, this is what happens: HE SALL BROWN FO JUPED OER HE LA DOG.

Really. What does that even say? It doesn't make sense and quite frankly I'm ashamed.

I've infrequently toyed with the idea of buying a keyboard that's actually worth something, but all of the "gamer" keyboards I've tried feel weird to me (although backlit keys are a huge draw). I once looked into getting the Logitech Illuminated keyboard, because it errs on the planar side while succeeding in lighting the letters up like t'were the future, but apparently a lot of them don't take kindly to more than two simultaneous key presses which renders it completely useless to me. Alas.

In unrelated but rather less cripplingly mundane news, I'm going to be interviewing Valve in relation to CS:GO at the Eurogamer Expo next weekend, so If you have any questions you'd like asked that do not involve the words "half," "life" and "three" then please place them carefully in the comment section. I'll be straining with all of my might to exclude those words entirely from my vernacular for fear that I may otherwise be slain.

Here's a video for you to fool your brain with. It makes regular chicks look like aliens. I'll be damned.
