LEONARDO DICAPRIO FEATURED ON THE COVER OF THE OCTOBER ISSUE OF GQ
Leonardo DiCaprio has his pick of roles in Hollywood, but not much gets him excited these days. Sometimes years go by between his movies. So what accounts for his choosing to play the despicable and probably closeted FBI legend, J. Edgar Hoover? The film's director, Clint Eastwood. Mark Harris sits down with the two men--both legends in their own right--to find out why they're finally working together now and gets their thoughts on the current film industry: "Continuously trying to achieve box-office success is a dead end," says DiCaprio. "It goes where it's been before. Plagiarism is always the biggest thing in Hollywood," blasts Eastwood. They also weigh in on the recent barrage of comic-book movies, the public's obsession with box-office numbers, DiCaprio's directing aspirations--Eastwood says, "He'd be great"--and more.
Leonardo DiCaprio on his ambivalence towards box-office numbers:
"Throughout my career, I never knew which movies of mine made money and which didn't. When Titanic came out, people would say, 'Do you realize what a success this is?' And I'd say, 'Yeah, yeah, it's a hit.' The [money] stuff never mattered to me until I was into my thirties and got interested in producing, and people would show me charts explaining what finances a movie, what you'll make from foreign, what you'll make from domestic, what you need to make an R-rated film that's a comedy versus a drama. But even now I say that unless you want to prove that you can carry a film with your name, continuously trying to achieve box-office success is a dead end."
Eastwood and DiCaprio weigh in on the politics of gay marriage:
"These people who are making a big deal about gay marriage? I don't give a fuck about who wants to get married to anybody else! Why not?! We're making a big deal out of things we shouldn't be making a deal out of...Just give everybody the chance to have the life they want," says Clint Eastwood.
"That's the most infuriating thing--watching people focus on these things. Meanwhile, there's the onset of global warming and these incredibly scary and menacing things with the future of our economy," says DiCaprio.
The October issue is on newsstands nationwide September 20th, 2011
Two and a Half Men star ASHTON Kutcher sees his marriage as an "active and evolving bond".
Kutcher married Demi Moore in 2005.
"Our relationship has just grown deeper and more interesting. We love each other and we love the journey we're taking together and that's not a cliche," he said.
"We are both actively engaged in each other's lives and we both find that it's so beautiful to be able to appreciate each other in new and different ways. We both see marriage as an active and evolving bond between us."
"You have to be very serious about communicating your feelings and just expressing yourself and being open to your partner," he added.
"Demi and I both believe in that kind of philosophy. We also like being romantic and doing special little things for each other, whether it's coming up with a wild new meal for dinner or suggesting a trip somewhere.
"You don't want to just sit around and get into some routine where you don't even realize that you've fallen into that kind of thing."
Jennifer Aniston's mom, Nancy Dow, suffered a stroke over the weekend.
According to reports the actress rushed to her side.
The Daily Mail reports, that Jennifer visited her 75-year-old mother at an L.A. hospital with boyfriend Justin Theroux at her side.
Nancy is reportedly in serious condition and unable to speak, and Jen was very emotional during her visit.
Jen and Nancy were once estranged but mended their relationship in 2009.
"It's good," Jen said in a 2009 interview, when asked about the relationship with her mom. "It's okay. Things are now fine between us. All of that is over, and we're in touch with one another. We speak, and it's all over."
Jen's rep told OK!, "This is a private family matter."
Agent Jason Trawick has sparked rumors he will propose to girlfriend BRITNEY Spears.
Trawick visited an exclusive Los Angeles jeweller to help create the perfect ring.
A source at the Mouawad jewellery store told X17online, "They discussed diamonds from the Mouawad private collection. It's Jason's first visit with Pascal."
Britney -- who already has failed marriages to Kevin Federline and Jason Alexander under her belt -- is believed to be keen to wed for a third time and it was recently reported she wanted a baby with Jason.
"She's always wanted a big family but also wants to prove to herself and to her family she is a good mother. She wants another chance to put things right," a source said.
"Now she's finally had the green light from Jason, she can't wait."
"There is no truth to that report with regards to engagement rings," a rep for Spears said in a statement. "However, Jason was there to discuss other matters with Pascal, but nothing relating to him personally."
