Environment and Social Justice

The Student Environmental and Ethical Network (aka SEEN) is the part of the Students Union that is here to campaign for the environment and the most disadvantaged people in the world.

The network made up of all societies with an environmental or ethical focus (for example Amnesty, People and Planet and Conservation Society).  It is headed by the students who volunteer for the Environment and Social Justice Committee which is chaired by the elected Environment and Social Justice Executive Officer.

The committee plans projects and events aimed to be fun but also raise awareness, throughout the year.  What campaigns and events the committee runs are pretty much up to the committee so the students involved have a real opportunity to take steps towards making the changes that they want in the Union.

As well as chairing and choosing the committee, the ESJ Officer is also responsible for liaising with and communicating our campaigns and actions to the other 8 members of the SU Exec, the university and to external bodies.

If you are interested in being involved with the committee in anyway, or have any other related interests whatsoever, please feel free to contact Ellie, your E&SJ officer on either 01158468773 or suenvironment@nottingham.ac.uk.

There is also a brilliant opportunity to get involved with Global Action Plan, who are holding a eco-teams workshop here on Tuesday 26th October that will let you engage with other people from the university and the local area who are just as keen to look after the environment as yourself.  Check it out here http://www.nus.org.uk/PageFiles/8922/Ecoteams-nottingham.pdf  And as if that wasn't enough there is a free lunch!
