Ssebagala attributed his absence at the ceremony to ill health when contacted by NTV. Work at the Kampala City Authority is coming to a near standstill with councillors today petitioning the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago to convene a special council meeting to discuss pressing issues that have been pending since he was sworn in.

Walked along the Stroget which is Europe's longest pedestrain street. Also visited the Nyhavn along the waterfront with many cafes and bars. Got thoroughly drenched by heavy rain and terrible conditions when checking out the town for 4 hours. Bit of a shame for such an historic and beautiful city. Not heard from Fred & Mary yet. They must not have recieved our messages. Will get the official tour tomorrow. We are feeling a bit tired and jetlagged but will hopefully get sleep early tonight. From the Downing Street website: Prime Minister David Cameron has said that the Coalition Government's foreign policy will be one of "hard-headed internationalism" focused on advancing Britain's national interest. In the PM's annual foreign policy speech at the Lord Mayor's banquet in London, Mr Cameron added that dealing with the deficit was vital to ensure that the UK carries its weight in the world. But he rejected the theory that Britain's influence is in decline, arguing that it remains a great economic power and its political and military assets continue to make it a major player on the international stage. Few countries in the world have the same combination of assets that the UK possesses, he told guests at the banquet, pointing to the UK's prominent position in NATO, the G20 and the UN Security Council as well as its global language, rich culture and cosmopolitan society.

Swords will welcome North County Dublin author Gerry Cooley to Hughes and Hughes in the Pavillions where he will be signing copies of the Book. It takes place on Saturday the 6th August @ 3.00 pm. Newly elected Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Andrew Montague attended Gerry's book signing that took place on Saturday July 16th at 3.00 pm in Hughes and Hughes in Santry Omni park. It was one of his very first official duties. The book is now available in Hughes & Hughes Swords, (Pavillions) & St. Stephen Green. This promo film was shown at the June 2011 Launch of the book. This is a selection of short stories about growing up in a small hamlet called Turnapin Lane which is just north of Dublin city before you reach Dublin Airport . Written and beautifully illustrated by Gerry, he takes the reader back to the 1960's when every thing seemed possible. A typical Irish childhood with Tom Sawyer type adventures all delivered in a conversational narrative which is Gerry's trademark as a storyteller on the Streets of Dublin. Video production was Russell Cooley @ Nightmaker Studios off main street in Swords Village.
