Headache Day 7

Spent some quality time in ER yesterday to address my headache.  Latest guess: Cluster headaches.  Or, as I like to call them, "Cluster Fucks."  According to the Mayo Clinic, "Cluster headache is one of the most painful types of headache."  No kidding.

So I'm taking Imitrex which has greatly lessened the pain, though I am still having some around the eye and the eye is tearing, which I guess is another symptom.

Yesterday at the ER they gave me intravenous dilauded which made me feel woozy and pain free for a couple of hours.  What bliss.

Bottom line: still painful, but better.  Time to see a neurologist and see if we can track down the kind of headache I'm having.  But headaches are very difficult to diagnose.  They can tell pretty quickly if it is stroke related (it's not) and that's good to know.

Argh.  But I am lucky in that I have good health insurance, and good doctors and facilities to go to.  As I was lying on the hospital bed in utter pain yesterday, I had an out of body experience that I was in some truly desolate place, lying on a dirty blanket on the floor with no hope of actually receiving any care at all.  Now that would be a living hell.  And it actually is for many many people.  There but for fortune....
