Call it progress, a small evolution, or spring cleaning that got
way out of hand, but there are some changes coming to the Ideas tab
at Veer this summer.
What's
in
You'll still be able to enjoy our blog the Skinny and the dozens
of multimedia features we've created over the years. The free
wallpapers will still be available, but are moving to the Free
tab.
What's
out
Due to issues of interest and upkeep, Portfolios, Groups, and
community blog the Fat will be shelved permanently this summer.
There are some people who have made the most of their online
portfolios, and we especially wanted to give those folks this early
notice. If you need an alternative place online to showcase your
work, we recommend checking out the free offerings at Behance and Krop.
What's
new
The Skinny will be getting a makeover (and a new back-end), and
there are plans to build a showcase of work that makes the most of
the images and fonts available at Veer. We'll also be resurrecting
some older multimedia features that haven't been seen in a
while.
If you have any questions, feel free to send them to ideas@veer.com.

Alejandro Paul supervised production of this video for his new
Poem Script font. Directed by
Santiago
Idelman, with music performed by
Rachel
Grimes, it perfectly exemplifies the beauty of this exotic
script that offers plenty of elaborate variations on each letter
and hundreds of calligraphic ornaments.

Ask an alien what look is hot these days, and you're sure to hear
the usual: space suits never, ever, go out of style. As intrepid
explorers of the firmament, Astronauts and Cosmonauts are proof
nothing beats a well pressed silver suit for a short space walk
with a friend. Always fans of nostalgia and extraterrestrial
affairs,
The Fox is Black
compiles the best star-bound fashions on
Space Suit of
the Week.

The Society of Typographic
Aficionados is organizing Font Aid V to assist in relief
efforts in Japan after its recent earthquake and tsunami.
Typographers and designers are being asked to design
Japan-inspired glyphs that will be compiled into a typeface. The
resulting font will be sold through http://sogojapan.org/ to directly
deliver funds to organizations in Japan.
Deadline for submissions is March 25th, 2011,
so create, donate, and help.
