Welcome to Glottis

Glottis is a New Zealand based literary journal publishing poetry, short fiction, reviews and critical essays. We also include artwork as space allows.

Glottis was founded in 1998 to provide an alternative to the predominant literary culture in New Zealand. We have gradually increased the circulation and content of the journal to a point where we are able to offer a wide distribution to our deserving contributors.

We operate on a non-profit basis, sustaining the journal through subscriptions, contributions, advertising, and the support of Creative New Zealand. Although funds are tight we are able to provide contributors with a small fee, and expand our reach by hosting readings, as well as launching other initiatives such as this website.

We are currently (and perhaps permanently) under construction, and we will be adding content here as soon as time and resources allow. This site is intended to be a "living document" which is updated regularly, allows debate, and responds to the needs of the community it serves, as well as the whims of its editors.
