NASA's Next Mars Rover to Land at Gale Crater

The car-sized Mars Science Laboratory, or Curiosity, is scheduled to launch late this year and land in August 2012. The target, Gale crater, is about the combined area of Connecticut and Rhode Island and holds a Mt. Rainier sized peak.

NASA's Dawn Spacecraft Beams Back New Photo of Asteroid Vesta

Dawn entered orbit around Vesta on July 15, 2011, and will spend a year orbiting the body. After that, the next stop on its itinerary will be an encounter with the dwarf planet Ceres.

Atlantis and Crew Land in Florida, Closing Out Shuttle Era

Atlantis and crew landed at NASA's Kennedy Space Center Thursday morning, wrapping up the space shuttle program. "America's not going to stop exploring," said Atlantis Commander Chris Ferguson soon after landing.
