Message of concern to the community:
Cornell University has suffered the loss of several students this semester. The President urges all members of the community to reach out to others in a caring way to offer support.
- Visit Gannett Health Services' Notice and Respond pages for information about recognizing and assisting people in need.
- Consult the faculty handbook entitled "Recognizing and Responding to Students in Distress" (pdf)
- Contact the Cornell Police (607 255-1111) if emergency assistance is required.
Operating Status

- In the event that cornell.edu is not available due to an emergency condition, emergency.cornell.edu will be updated accordingly.
Reporting an Emergency
- In an emergency, call 911 (not 5-911 or 9-911).
- Call 911 for any situation that requires IMMEDIATE police, fire, or medical response to preserve life or property.
- You can also use any outdoor Blue Light phone (situated throughout the campus) or designated emergency phone (in various campus buildings) to report a campus emergency. Just pick up the receiver.
