For anyone with the Rockstar Pass having trouble getting the L.A. Noire Nicholson Electroplating DLC, it should be available asap today, stay tuned...
Rockstar Games, in conjunction with Mulholland Books, is proud to announce
that L.A. Noire: The Collected Stories is now available for digital download
through all major eBook retailers. Between now and June 12, the anthology will
be available for free across all digital platforms. The one week promotional
price also applies to fans who pre-ordered the eBook.
Authors with stories in the anthology include such renowned writers as Megan
Abbott, Lawrence Block, Joe Lansdale, Joyce Carol Oates, Francine Prose,
Jonathan Santlofer, Duane Swierczynski and Andrew Vachss. 1940s Hollywood,
murder, deception and mystery take center stage as readers reintroduce
themselves to characters seen in L.A. Noire. Explore the lives of actresses
desperate for the Hollywood spotlight; heroes turned defeated men; and classic
noir villains. Readers will come across familiar faces and familiar cases from
the game that puts a new spin on the tales of emotionally torn protagonists,
depraved schemers and their ill-fated victims.

Rockstar Games today announced their plans for L.A. Noire's downloadable content, which includes the launch of the first DLC starting today! There seems to be a bit of confusion for some at first, so I'll keep it as short, simple and understandable as possible:
Starting today, you can purchase what the company is calling a "Rockstar Pass", which basically gives you discounted access to all of the below content for a price of $10 (PSN) or 800 MS Points (Xbox Live). They're all listed below, with the pricing for each individual piece of content listed in brackets, if you want to buy that separate.
Starting Today:
- "The Naked City" Vice Desk Case ($3.99 PSN / 320 MS Points)
- "A Slip of The Tongue" Traffic Desk Case ($3.99 PSN / 320 MS Points)
- The Badge Pursuit Challenge ($1.99 PSN / 160 MS Points)
- "The Broderick" Detective Suit ($0.99 PSN / 80 MS Points)
- "The Sharpshooter" Detective Suit ($0.99 PSN / 80 MS Points)
Available June 21st:
- "Nicholson Electroplating" Arson Desk Case ($3.99 PSN / 320 MS Points)
Available July 12th:
- "Reefer Madness" Vice Desk Case ($3.99 PSN / 320 MS Points)
In addition, the following pieces of content are available for free starting today:
- "Chicago Lightning" Detective Suit (Free via the Social Club)
- "Chicago Piano" Machine Gun (Free)
So again, the Rockstar Pass gives you access to all of the announced DLC at a limited-time discount price of $10. From June 14th onwards, it'll cost $12.
Good stuff! The four new cases also include new Xbox 360 Achievements and PlayStation 3 Trophies. The Badge Pursuit Challenge, by the way, is a collectible piece of content that has 20 badges scattered across the map to collect. We'll have the locations for these up as soon as possible on our L.A. Noire Map!
Oh and, while only the above has been announced, don't be concerned, this won't be the only DLC for the game. Expect more in the future, although the $10 price is only for the above content.
If you haven't noticed it yet, earlier in the week, Jesse added the screenshots of the hidden vehicles in the game to our L.A. Noire Map. He's been hard at work, and today you can check out the updated map with high resolution screenshots of all 50 film reels in the game!
You can find it all on our L.A. Noire Map, along with locations for hidden vehicles, landmarks, newspapers and street crimes.
As promised, today we are happy to launch our L.A. Noire Interactive Map. Here, you will find locations for all the official collectibles, including landmarks, film reels, newspapers, street crimes and hidden vehicles!
Fellow site editor Jesse is currently busy taking various screenshots, and will be periodically adding them to the map. We also plan to add various extra links and images, so stay tuned. Make sure you follow us on twitter for announcements on map updates.
Fellow reader Ted Beasley has sent in this video found on YouTube, showing various scenes across Los Angeles filmed during the 1940s. Look carefully at the 17 second mark, that's the Brown Derby building, one of the collectible landmarks in the game!
In the video you can also see footage of the hearings held during 1947 that resulted in the Hollywood Blacklist. As some of you may have heard, some of this is broadcast on the in-game radio.
I have to say, having played this game for a week now, it's weird watching footage like this. Obviously the game is an art form imitating life, and not the other way round, but it just goes to show you the extensive research that went into building this world and making it really feel like you're in that period.
If you'd like to send us anything you think we should check out, contact us!
Those of you who are familiar with sister site GTA 'Hood will remember the interacitve map that we did for Grand Theft Auto IV. Today, I am happy to report that we are able to do the same for L.A. Noire! We will of course include all the locations for things like landmarks and hidden vehicles.
However, a unique feature this time round with the L.A. Noire Interactive Map will be the addition of screenshots, guiding you the locations for things like Film Reels. We'll also provide screenshots for the hidden vehicles, allowing you to see what a vehicle looks like before you pick it up.
Check back tomorrow, Tuesday, when the map goes live!
