The neighbors do not accept love between a farmer and Mrs. Graham (Helen Huntingdon). It even leads to the fights of the men and sorting things out. After these events, Helen decides to give Gilbert her personal diary. There she describes her life.

Although Roman Polanski's movie The Tenant (1976) is mostly seen as a psychological, paranoid and dark thriller, especially on a second viewing, it is also a movie which has very funny moments.
Trelkovski is lonely. quiet, good hearted and looking for contact.
He is also unsure of himself, clumsy and ignorant.
Trelkovski feels increasingly insecure in his new apartment as the influences of his neighbours creep up on him.
To what does his environment drives him ? Or is it Trelkovski himself which is losing contact
with reality ?
Excellent movie ! Get to see it.

Does anyone know anything about this piece? It's obviously a jazzy variation of Philippe Sarde's score for the rest of the movie, but this piece is not on any soundtrack.

The Tenant
The Tenant is a 1976 psychological thriller film directed by Roman Polanski, starring Polanski, Isabelle Adjani, Melvyn Douglas, and Shelley Winters. It is based upon the 1964 novel Le locataire chimérique by Roland Topor. The film is also known under the French title Le Locataire. It is the last film in Polanski's "Apartment Trilogy", following Repulsion and Rosemary's Baby. It was entered into the 1976 Cannes Film Festival. The film had a total of 534,637 admissions in France.
Plot summary
Trelkovsky (Roman Polanski), a quiet and unassuming man, rents an apartment in Paris whose previous tenant, Egyptologist Simone Choule, attempted to commit suicide by throwing herself out the window and through a pane of glass below. He visits Choule in the hospital but finds her entirely in bandages and unable to talk. Whilst still at Choule's bedside, Trelkovsky meets Simone's friend, Stella (Isabelle Adjani), who has also come to visit. Stella begins talking to Simone, who becomes aware of her visitors. Initially showing some signs of agitation upon seeing them, Choule soon lets out a disturbing cry, then dies. It isn't clear which of the two has caused this reaction. Apparently unaware that Choule is now dead, Trelkovsky tries to comfort Stella but dares not say that he never knew Simone, instead pretending to be another friend. They leave together and go out for a drink and a movie (1973's Enter The Dragon), where they fondle each other. Outside the theatre they part ways.

This novel consists of three parts. The plot takes place in Victorian England. Everything begins from a young farmer Gilbert Markham, who tells the readers about a mysterious stranger. Her name is Helen Huntington. One day she appears in an old mansion and causes interest and gossip about her personality. A passionate feeling to Helen is born in Gilbert’s heart. However, she prevents their relationship in every possible way. The communication with Helen’s son Arthur ties Gilbert even more to this woman. The neighbors do not accept love between a farmer and Mrs. Graham (Helen Huntingdon). It even leads to the fights of the men and sorting things out. After these events, Helen decides to give Gilbert her personal diary. There she describes her life.

I'm Trelkovski !
Although Roman Polanski's movie The Tenant (1976) is mostly seen as a psychological, paranoid and dark thriller, especially on a second viewing, it is also a movie which has very funny moments.
Trelkovski is lonely. quiet, good hearted and looking for contact.
He is also unsure of himself, clumsy and ignorant.
Trelkovski feels increasingly insecure in his new apartment as the influences of his neighbours creep up on him.
To what does his environment drives him ? Or is it Trelkovski himself which is losing contact
with reality ?
