Atul Agnihotri (Hindi: अतुल अग्निहोत्रि, Urdu: اَتُل اَگنِہوترِ), born on 24 June 1970, is a Bollywood actor and director.

Career

Agnihorti's career stretches back to 1983 when he made a brief appearance as a child artist in Pasand Apni Apni. He started his adult film career in 1993 with Mahesh Bhatt's Sir. He went onto act in several other films throughout the 1990s and early 2000s with his most notable films including Krantiveer (1994), (1994) and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam (2002). He made his directorial debut with the 2004 film Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa which starred his brother-in-law Salman Khan, Bhoomika Chawla, and Preity Zinta in lead roles.

Personal life

He is married to Alvira Khan who is actor Salman Khan's sister. His father-in-law is scriptwriter Salim Khan. His brothers-in-law are actors Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan. His cousin is actress Rati Agnihotri. He has two children

Pooja Bhatt (; born on 24 February 1972), is an Indian film actress, currently devoting time to film production and direction. She is the daughter of Indian film director Mahesh Bhatt.

Early life

Bhatt was born to Mahesh Bhatt and Kiran Bhatt (aka Loraine Bright). She is of Gujarati descent on her father's side. She has Scottish, Armenian and Burmese ancestry on her mother's side. She is the step daughter of Soni Razdan, an actress. She has a brother, Rahul Bhatt and step sisters Shaheen and Alia. Her cousin Mohit Suri is a film screenwriter-director. Emraan Hashmi is another famous cousin who is a Bollywood actor.

She acted in many films which were produced and directed by her father.

Career

Bhatt made her acting debut at age 17, in 1989 with Daddy, a TV film directed by her father Mahesh Bhatt. In the film she portrayed a soul-searching teenage girl in an estranged relationship with her alcoholic father, played by actor Anupam Kher.

Her biggest hit and her big screen debut came with a musical hit, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin (1991) opposite Aamir Khan which was a remake of the Oscar-winning Hollywood classic "It Happened One Night." Pooja received the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for the film. Another hit movie of Bhatt was Sadak (1991),

Her most well-known films in the 1990s included, Sadak (1991), opposite Sanjay Dutt, Junoon, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin (1991), Sir (1993), Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee (1993), Naaraaz (1994), Hum Dono (1995), Tamanna (1997), a super-hit and multi-starrer Border (1997) and Zakhm (1998). Her most notable film though in the 1990s was Chaahat (1996) where she starred along side Shahrukh Khan, Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher.

Her last film appearance was in Everybody Says I'm Fine! in 2001. She has since focused on producing and directing. She made her directorial debut with Paap in 2004, starring John Abraham and Udita Goswami. Since then, she has made three more directorial ventures, Holiday (2006), Dhokha (2007) and Kajraare (2010).

Personal life

On 24 August 2003, Bhatt married Manish Makhija, also known as Udham Singh, a former VJ of an Indian music channel, Channel V and now the owner of a restaurant-bar in Goa. She had met Makhija a few months earlier, while he was working with her in the film, Paap (2004), in which he also did a small role.

Mithun Chakraborty ( Miṭhun Chôkroborti, Hindi: मिथुन चक्रवर्ती; born Gouranga Chakraborty ) is a three-time National Film Award-winning Indian film actor, social activist and entrepreneur. Mithun Chakraborty made his acting debut with the arthouse drama Mrigaya (1976), for which he won his first National Film Award for Best Actor.

Chakraborty has appeared in more than 300 Hindi films, as well as a number of Bengali, Oriya and Bhojpuri pictures. He owns the Monarch Group, which has interests in the hospitality sector.

Early life and education

Mithun Chakraborty was born in Jorabagan, Kolkata, West Bengal to a Bengali Hindu family.

He was educated at the Scottish Church College in Kolkata, from where he earned his graduate degree in chemistry (BSc). He was initially associated with naxalities in West Bengal, which he later left and joined Mumbai films. For rest of his life, his family had continuous threat from naxalities. After that he attended and graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune.

Mithun Chakraborty was a staunch Naxalite before entering the film industry, but tragedy struck his family when his only brother got accidentally electrocuted and killed in a freak accident. He returned to his family and left the Naxalite fold, even though doing so posed a grave risk to his own life. He had also undergone expert training in Martial Arts.

Film career

Mithun Chakraborty made his film debut in the 1976 Mrinal Sen directed film Mrigaya for which he won the coveted National Film Award for Best Actor. After his debut he played some supporting roles in films such as Do Anjaane (1976) and Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan (1977) which did not gain him any recognition. He shot into prominence in the late 1970s with the low budget Ravikant Nagaich directed spy film Surakshaa (1979) and the early 1980s with leading roles in hit films such as Hum Paanch (1980) and Wardat (1981) (a sequel to Surakshaa).

His breakthrough role finally came in the musical drama Disco Dancer (1982) which was a huge success and remains a cult favorite to this day. This film and other musical films such as Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki (1984) and Dance Dance (1987) showcased him as a talented dancer.

Chakraborty starred in a number of successful romantic and family dramas during the 1980s, such as Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye (1983), Pyaar Jhukta Nahin (1985), Swarg Se Sunder (1986), and Pyaar Ka Mandir (1988). These films remain his most commercially successful films to date.

He was widely recognized as an action hero in hit films like Wanted (1983), Boxer (1984), Jagir (1984), Jaal (1986), Watan Ke Rakhwale (1987), Commando (1988), Waqt ki Awaz (1988), Guru (1989), Mujrim (1989) and Dushman (1990). Chakraborty worked with some of the biggest actresses of his time and Bollywood in general, including Zeenat Aman, Padmini Kolhapure, Rati Agnihotri, Rekha, Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit.

Chakraborty achieved not only commercial success but also tremendous critical acclaim. His performances in Mrigaya, Tahader Katha, Swami Vivekananda, Kalpurush and Titli were widely appreciated and won him National Film Awards and nominations. He won two Filmfare awards: The Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for his performance in the 1990 film Agneepath, and the Filmfare Best Villain Award for his performance in Jallad. He was praised for his performances in films including Pyaar Ka Mandir (1988) and Mujrim (1989).

In the mid 90s he took a break from Mumbai and relocated to Ooty where he set up his Own hotel business under The Monarch brand name. He operates hotels in Mudhumalai, Ooty in Tamil Nadu and Darjeeling and Kolkata in West Bengal. Mithun strategically shifted his focus from mainstream Hindi cinema to low-budget movies. He was considered as a One Man Industry for a decade as he starred over 80 films in ten years. He was literally running a Parallal Bollywood Industry based at Ooty, Chennai and nearby locations. These movies were mainly produced to cater the audiences of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Bengal, where Chakraborty has a cult-following even today. His economical film production was popular as Mithun's Dream Factory. He paid more tax than anyone else in the country in the mean period for 6 continuous years, from 1994 to 1999.

Chakraborty made a comeback to the mainstream Hindi film industry in 2005 with the film Elaan, although it was not a success. After a few supporting roles in films such as (2005), he was acclaimed for his performance in Kalpana Lazmi's Chingari (2005). In 2007 he starred in Mani Ratnam's hit film Guru for which he received much critical praise. Guru was the second commercially successful film after since his comeback. Mithun Chakraborty had 9 releases in 2008 including Bengali and Bhojpuri films. His movie Heroes was an above average box office success, and his comic performance was praised in Don Muthu Swami. In 2009, his movie Zor Lagaa Ke...Haiya! won multiple International awards and Chal Chalein was appreciated by critics for its bold theme. His Phir Kabhi with Dimple Kapadia had a very successful premiere through direct to home (DTH) in September 2009 and won as many as six awards in as many categories at the Los Angeles Reel Awards-2009. Mithunda's last Hindi releases Veer, along with Salman Khan, though a commercial failure, won him rave reviews, but Golmaal 3 become a Blockbuster at the box-office. His delayed films like Raakh and Zindagi Tere Naam are getting ready for an early release due to Golmaal 3 's Huge Success. He is also doing Spaghetti 24 x 7, along with his son Mimoh Chakraborty.

Parallel to his Bollywood career, Mithun Chakraborty had chalked up an array of successful and not-so-successful films in his native Bengali, as well as in realistic or arthouse movies, where his trained acting has resulted in him getting quite a few awards and accolades. Troyee, made in 1982 with Debashree Roy and Anil Chatterjee, was a big success. After the move to Bombay, and his popularity as a star in mainstream Hindi movies, there was a lull in Mithun's appearances in mainstream Bengali movies, but he continued to appear in arthouse movies like eminent director Buddhadeb Dasgupta's Tahader Katha which got him the second National Award in 1992. A third National Award followed in 1995, this time for the Best Supporting Actor , for his awesome portrayal of Ramakrishna Paramhansa, in G V Iyer's Swami Vivekananda. He also got accolades for Goutam Ghose's Gudia in 1999. He also appeared in Rituparno Ghosh's critically and commercially appreciated Titli in 2002, starring with the real-life mother-daughter pair of Aparna Sen and Konkona Sen Sharma. Recently, the Fatakeshto series of popular entertainers have been widely successful in West Bengal. In 2008, he collaborated again with Dasgupta for the critically acclaimed Kaalpurush, with Rahul Bose and Sameera Reddy. Mithun's recent release Shukno Lanka, won critical acclaim and commercial success simultaneously.

Sports

Mithun Chakraborty has also been involved in promotion of Football in his native Bengal. The Bengal Football Academy is his brainchild and Mithun raised the necessary funds for the launch of this academy.

Mithun Chakraborty was also the co-owner of Royal Bengal Tigers, a cricket team of the Indian Cricket League.

Personal life

Mithun Chakraborty is married to former Indian actress Yogeeta Bali and has four children, three sons and one adopted daughter. The eldest son, Mimoh Chakraborty is an actor in Bollywood, who made his debut in the 2008 film Jimmy, His second son, Rimoh Chakraborty played Mithun's younger version the film Phir Kabhi. And Mithun's other two children Namashi Chakraborty and Dishani Chakraborty are still into their studies.

Numerous sources claim that Mithun Chakraborty had a relationship with actress Sridevi from 1986 to 1987, and that Sridevi ended the relationship when she found out that he had not divorced his first wife, Yogeeta Bali. Mithun Chakraborty and Sridevi were believed to have been secretly married and that the union was later annulled.

Sonali Bendre (, born 1 January 1975) is an Indian actress and model. She has mostly starred in Bollywood films but has acted in many hit Telugu films as well as a few number of Marathi,Tamil and Kannada films. She was also one of the four judges in the fourth season of Indian Idol and India's Got Talent.

Personal life and education

Sonali was born in Mumbai in korba sarasawat brahmin family. She studied in Bangalore and Mumbai in Kendriya Vidyalaya Antop Hill, Sion and Holy Cross High School Thane. She married film actor/director Goldie Behl on 12 November 2002. On 9 August 2005, she gave birth to a son, Ranveer, at the Breach Candy Hospital.

Career

Bendre started out as a model before being selected for the "Star Dust Talent Search". She was invited to Mumbai and received training from a variety of top actors and performers of the Indian film industry. Her first role was in Aag (1994) opposite Govinda. Though she initially struggled to be a successful actress, she was eventually given critical acclaim for her performances in films like Bhai (1997),Murari (Telugu film) Sarfarosh, Zakhm, Duplicate, Kadhalar Dhinam (Tamil film), (1999), Tera Mera Saath Rahey and Anaahat (2003) among many others. Salman Khan (, }}, pronounced ; born Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan on 27 December 1965) is an Indian film actor. He has appeared in more than 80 Hindi films.

Khan, who made his acting debut with a minor role in the drama Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988), had his first commercial success with the blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), for which he won a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He went on to star in some of Hindi cinema's most successful films of those times, such as Saajan (1991), Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994), Karan Arjun (1995), Judwaa (1997), Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998) and Biwi No.1 (1999), having appeared in the highest earning films of seven separate years during his career.

Career

1980s

Salman Khan made his acting debut in the 1988 film Biwi Ho To Aisi where he played a supporting role. His first leading role in a Bollywood movie was in Sooraj R. Barjatya's romantic family drama Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). The film went on to become one of India's highest grossing films. It also won him a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award, and a nomination for Filmfare Best Actor Award.

1990s

1990 saw only one film release starring Khan, , alongside southern actress Nagma. The film was a box office success, and was followed by another successful year in 1991 when he starred in three hit films, Patthar Ke Phool, Sanam Bewafa and Saajan. Despite these early successes, nearly all of his 1992-1993 releases resulted in box office failures. Apart from being a commercial success, the film was widely acclaimed and Khan was praised for his performance, earning his second nomination for Best Actor at the Filmfare. Three more films released that year featured Khan, none of which making a significant impact on the box-office as was the case with the previously mentioned title. He did however win praise for his performance in Andaz Apna Apna, alongside co-star Aamir Khan, which has gained a cult status since its release. In 1995 he cemented his success with Rakesh Roshan's blockbuster Karan Arjun, co-starring alongside Shahrukh Khan. In 2002 he starred in the delayed release Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam which was semi-hit at the box office.

Khan's following releases failed at the box office until he made a comeback in 2003 with Tere Naam. The film was a major earner and his performance was praised by critics, with film critic Taran Adarsh noting, "Salman Khan is exceptional in a role that fits him to the T. He breathes fire in sequences that demand uneasiness. But beneath the tough exterior lies a vulnerable person and this facet in particular comes to the fore in the latter reels. His emotional outbursts are splendid..." He subsequently continued his success at the box office, with comedies like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and No Entry (2005). Khan starred in three films throughout 2008, all of which underperformed, though his second film of the year, Heroes, met with praise from critics.

Khan hosted the second season of 10 Ka Dum in year 2009 which turned out to be even more successful than his first season as host of the game show in year 2008. The show got very high TRPs for Sony Entertainment Television and according to reports, the show helped Sony TV regain its third position in the Indian television ratings.

Khan's first film of 2009, Wanted directed by choreographer turned director Prabhu Deva was declared a smash hit in its first weekend of release itself. The action film turned out to be a huge success. The movie got more recognition for its slick action sequences performed by the actor himself. In the same year, he appeared in two other films, Main Aurr Mrs Khanna and London Dreams, both of which were failures at the box office.

His first release of 2010, Anil Sharma's Veer underperformed at the box office. Khan's recent film, Dabangg produced by his brother Arbaaz Khan, was released on September 10, 2010. It made a record opening at the box office and was declared an all time blockbuster and the second-highest grossing Indian movie of all-time.

Personal life

Khan is the eldest son of screenwriter Salim Khan and his first wife Salma Khan (maiden name Sushila Charak). His stepmother is Helen, a former Bollywood actress, who has co-starred with him in (1996) and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999). He has two brothers, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, and two sisters, Alvira and Arpita. Alvira is married to actor/director Atul Agnihotri.

Khan finished his schooling through St. Stanislaus High School in Bandra, Bombay, as did his younger brothers Arbaaz and Sohail. Earlier, he studied at The Scindia School, Gwalior for a few years along with younger brother Arbaaz.

In 2004, he was voted seventh best-looking man in the world and the best looking man in India by People magazine, U.S. Khan has been involved in several charities during his career.

On 11 October 2007, Khan accepted an offer from Madame Tussauds wax museum in London to have a wax replica made of himself. His life-size wax figure was installed there on 15 January 2008, making him the fourth Indian actor to have been replicated as a wax statue in the museum.

Controversies

Legal troubles

On 28 September 2002, Salman was arrested for rash and negligent driving. His car had run into a bakery in Mumbai; one person who was sleeping on the pavement outside the bakery died and three others were injured in the mishap. Charges of culpable homicide were laid against him, but later dropped, and he was found not guilty. However, he will still have to stand trial for a series of lesser charges pertaining to the incident.

On 17 February 2006, Khan was sentenced to one year in prison for hunting an endangered species, the Chinkara. The sentence was stayed by a higher court during appeal. On 10 April 2006, Salman was handed a five year jail term for hunting the endangered Chinkara. He was remanded to Jodhpur jail, and remained there until 13 April when he was granted bail. On 24 August 2007, the Jodhpur sessions court, upheld the 5 year jail term for Khan in the Chinkara poaching case by turning down his appeal against the 2006 judgement. At the time of the hearing, he was busy with a shooting elsewhere, while his sister attended the proceedings. The day after, he was placed under police arrest in Jodhpur after a Rajasthan court upheld a prison sentence passed upon him for poaching. On 31 August 2007, Khan was released on bail from the Jodhpur Central jail where he spent six days.

Relationship troubles

His turbulent relationship with actress Aishwarya Rai was a well publicised topic in the Indian media, and had constantly filled gossip columns. After their break-up in March 2002, Rai accused him of harassing her. She claimed that Khan had not been able to come to terms with their break-up and was hounding her; her parents lodged a complaint against him.

In 2005, news outlets released what was said to be an illicit copy of a mobile phone call recorded in 2001 by the Mumbai police. It appeared to be a call in which he threatened his ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai, in an effort to force her to appear at social events held by Mumbai crime figures. The call featured boasts of connections to organized crime and derogatory comments about other actors. However, the alleged tape was tested in the government's Forensic lab in Chandigarh, which concluded that it was fake.

Fatwas

In September 2007, a Muslim organisation issued a fatwa against Khan for attending a Ganesh puja. Stating that Islam prohibits idol worship, the organisation stated that unless Khan reads the kalma — the declaration of faith — all over again, he will not be considered a Muslim. In addition to that, Khan celebrated the Ganesh Mahotsav with his family in Bandra; they brought a Ganesh idol for one day for the sake of his stepmother, Helen. Khan was among the group who danced in the procession. His father responded by criticising the fatwa and stated that Salman had done nothing wrong.

Another fatwa was raised against Khan by a Muslim cleric in India, mufti Salim Ahmad Qasmi, for allowing Madame Tussauds in London to make a wax model of himself. The mufti said the statue is illegal and the Sharia forbids depictions of all living creatures. This created speculation in the press, as no fatwa was released against fellow Muslim, Shahrukh Khan who also has a wax model in the museum. Salman responded by saying, "These fatwas are becoming a joke".

The fatwa was raised upon Khan again in September 2008, for celebrating the Ganeshotsav Hindu ceremony at his home with the family. The fatwa was raised by the member of the Advisory Council, Jama Masjid, in New Delhi. On this occasion, his father, Salim, again questioned the fatwa and criticised those who raise it.

Kumar Sanu (alias Kedarnath Bhattacharya (), born in Kolkata, is a leading Indian playback singer of Bollywood. He won the Filmfare Best Male Playback Award for five consecutive years. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2009.

Early life

Kumar Sanu's father Pashupati Bhattacharya was a vocalist and composer. He trained Sanu as a singer and tabla player. After getting a degree in commerce from Calcutta University, Sanu began performing publicly in 1979, singing at shows and restaurants around Calcutta. He modeled his singing style after Bollywood singer Kishore Kumar. Later he developed his own singing style.

Career

In 1987, music director and singer Jagjit Singh offered Sanu the chance to sing in the Hindi film Aandhiyan. Sanu then relocated to Mumbai, where Kalyanji-Anandji gave him chance to sing in the film Jaadugar. Kalyanji-Anandji suggested that he change his name from Kedar Nath Bhattacharya to Kumar Sanu.

Sanu started off singing Jagjit Singh's film songs, and went on to work with composers including Naushad, Ravindra Jain, Hridayanath Mangeshkar, Pt.R K Razdan, Kalyanji Anandji, and Usha Khanna.

For the 1990 film Aashiqui, music directors Nadeem-Shravan got Sanu to sing all but one of the songs which included Sanson ki zaroorat hai jaise, Tu meri zindagi hain, Nazar ke saamne, Jaane jigar jaaneman, Ab Tere Bin Jee Lenge Hum and Dheere, dheere se meri zindagi mein aana. He won the first of his record five consecutive Filmfare awards as Best Male Playback Singer. His next Filmfare Awards came for songs in the movies Saajan (1991), Deewana (1992), Baazigar (1993), and (1994).

Sanu often collaborated with Nadeem-Shravan. Some of their collaborations include songs in movies like Aashiqi(1990), Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin (1991),Sadak (1991), Saajan (1991), Deewana (1992), Dil Ka Kya Qusoor(1992),Kal Ki Awaz (1992), Shreeman Aashique (1993), Salami (1993), Damini: Lightning (1993), Dil Wale (1994), Agni Sakshi (1996) Raja Hindustani (1996), Jeet (1996) Pardes (1997), among others.

Sanu is often credited with having one of the leading voices among playback singers in India. In a career spanning two decades he has sung with numerous successful composers to name R.D. Burman, Anand-Milind, Anu Malik, Jatin-Lalit, Ismail Darbar, Kalyanji Anandji. Sanu has also worked with A. R. Rahman in Milgayee Milgayee from Kabhi Na Kabhi.

He has also turned his trade at making music for Indian films and also produced the Bollywood film, Utthaan.

Sanu was in the panel of judges on Sony TV for Waar Parriwar, a reality show based on the bringing together of a singing gharana (family of singers) and on Zee Bangla TV in a music reality show called Sa Re Ga Ma Pa - Vishwa Sera.

Hungama released a new single Lamhaa Ho Tum on Valentine's Day 2010 by Kumar Sanu, composed by Saikat Shankar and the song is written by Abhishek Brothers.

Deepika Padukone (, ); born 5 January 1986) is an Indian actress and a former model. Padukone made her acting debut in the 2006 Kannada film Aishwarya. The following year, she made her Hindi film debut in the blockbuster Om Shanti Om which earned her the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award.

Early life and background

Deepika was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her family moved to Bangalore, Karnataka, India, when she was eleven months old. Deepika is of Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin origin, and her mother tongue is Konkani. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a retired badminton player of international repute, and her mother is a travel agent. Padukone also has a younger sister, Anisha, born on February 2, 1991.

Padukone attended Sophia High School in Bangalore, and completed her pre-university studies at Mount Carmel College Bangalore. While in high school she played badminton at the state level. However, she was not keen on pursuing a career as a badminton player.

Career

Modeling

While in college, Padukone pursued a career in modeling. She was spotted in a ramp competition in NLS, Bangalore. Over the years, she has modeled for such Indian brand names as Liril, Dabur Lal powder, Close-Up toothpaste and Limca, and has been "brand ambassador" for the Jewels of India retail jewelry show. The cosmetics company Maybelline made her its international spokesperson.

At the fifth annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards she was awarded the title "Model of the Year". Shortly afterward, she was chosen as one of the models for the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar for 2006 and won two trophies at the Idea Zee Fashion Awards: "Female Model of the Year - (Commercial Assignments)" and "Fresh Face of the Year". Padukone was also chosen as the brand ambassador of Kingfisher Airlines and later Levi Strauss and Tissot SA. In addition, she appeared in the music video for Himesh Reshammiya's song Naam Hai Tera.

Acting

In 2006, Padukone made her cinematic debut in the Kannada film Aishwarya opposite actor Upendra. She later made a successful Bollywood debut in 2007 with Farah Khan's blockbuster Om Shanti Om opposite Shahrukh Khan. Her performance was well received, earning the actress a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award as well as her first Filmfare Best Actress nomination. Taran Adarsh from indiaFM noted, "Deepika has all it takes to be a top star — the personality, the looks and yes, she's supremely talented too. Standing in the same frame as SRK and getting it right is no small achievement. She comes as a whiff of fresh air!" Padukone was then seen in Siddharth Anand's romantic comedy Bachna Ae Haseeno opposite Ranbir Kapoor and alongside Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lamba. The film, which released on 15 August 2008, performed reasonably well at the box office. Her next film Chandni Chowk To China, released on 16 January 2009, and was a critical and commercial disaster. Padukone's fourth release Love Aaj Kal, released on 31 July 2009 and proved to be one of the biggest hits of 2009. Her first release in 2010 was Excel Entertainment’s Karthik Calling Karthik opposite Farhan Akhtar.

Other work

In 2009, Deepika started writing weekly columns for HT City, the lifestyle supplement of Hindustan Times. These columns appear online on social network, Desimartini.

Personal life

In March 2008, Padukone began dating Ranbir Kapoor, her co-star from the film Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008). The couple broke up in November 2009. She is rumored to be dating Sidhartha Mallya these days.
