The Gut Group was an independent record label, based in Maida Vale in London, in the United Kingdom.
Formally introduced in 1991, Gut Records was founded by Guy Holmes, who had been Head of Promotions at Island Records. Under his expertise, the fledgling company quickly became one of the UK's leading independent record labels with multi-million selling albums and singles from artists like Tom Jones, Right Said Fred, Aswad, Jimmy Sommerville as well as, more recently, Uniting Nations and The Crazy Frog. The label released a diverse range of music from pop through to indie/rock and dance. The first single released, Right Said Fred's song, "I'm Too Sexy", become a massive worldwide hit, reaching Number One in twenty-eight countries, including the United States, where it spent three weeks at Number One. The band was hailed as “The world's latest and greatest pop phenomenon,” by Melody Maker magazine, and “The best pop group for years,” by The Face magazine. The single went on to sell seven million copies, and their debut album Up, became a worldwide phenomena, hitting Number One in the UK, it reached the Top Five in over twenty countries—selling in excess of four million copies worldwide. The group also earned the prestigious Ivor Novello Award for “Most Played Song” in 1992 and 1993.
The trio of labels continued to successfully release albums and singles worldwide, achieving millions of sales for artists including Sparks, Hello Young Lovers and Tears for Fears in the European Union. During August 2008, the company was sold to Phoenix Music.
Founder and Chairman of Gut Records, Guy Holmes was chosen as CEO of Two Seas Records, a newly born record label founded by the Prince of Bahrain, which was to release Michael Jackson's comeback album, a stage show and his autobiography.

Loleatta Holloway (born November 5, 1946, Chicago, Illinois) is an American singer, mainly known for disco songs such as "Hit and Run" and "Love Sensation", both of which have been sampled extensively.
Top Philadelphia arranger and producer, Norman Harris quickly signed Holloway in 1976 for his new label, Gold Mind, a subsidiary of New York's SalSoul Records. The first release from the album, "Loleatta" was another Sam Dees ballad, "Worn Out Broken Heart" which reached #25 R&B;, but the b-side, "Dreaming" climbed to #72 on the pop chart and launched her as a disco act. She contributed vocals to "Re-Light My Fire" for Dan Hartman, who then wrote and produced the title track of her fourth and final album for Gold Mind in 1980, "Love Sensation". She placed eighteen songs on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, including four #1s. However, it was a ballad that proved to be another big R&B; hit for her. "Only You" was written and produced by Bunny Sigler who also sang with Holloway on the track, and it reached #11 in 1978.
More recent dance chart entries include "What Goes Around Comes Around" (GTS featuring Loleatta Holloway) in 2000, and "Relight My Fire" (credited to Martin featuring Loleatta Holloway), which hit #5 in 2003. While not a single, "Like a Prayer", a Madonna cover, was a track on the Madonna tribute album, Virgin Voices.
Her latest hit "Love Sensation '06" peaked at #22 in the Dutch Top 40, and reached #37 on the UK Singles Chart as well as #49 in Australia.
Today, Holloway resides in Chicago, and occasionally tours. Most recently she performed with Take That singing "Relight My Fire", for the band's 2009 "Take That Present: The Circus Live" tour.
Whitney Houston sampled Holloway's 1976 track, "We're Getting Stronger", for her hit single, "Million Dollar Bill", in 2009.
