Tarik Saleh has directed this new 6 minute video for Sadness is a Blessing. Lykke Li certainly makes dinner a little bit more interesting.

Blow Your Head Vol 2 – Dave Nada Presents Moombahton Minimix

Posted on by sian Artist:

Back in March we wrote about Moombahton, the genre invented in the Washington suburbs by Dave Nada and described by Diplo as “A brand new sound, the child of house music and reggae music and dubstep for girls.”

And, continuing their support, Mad Decent have asked Nada to produce this the second disc in the Blow Your Head series. It features 15 essential tracks, including work from Munchi and Dave Nada’s own Nadastrom project.

Not quite ready to commit? Get a taste for it by listening to this minimix.

Odd Future – UK Tour Diary

Posted on by Abeano Artist:

Love them or hate them, fact is that Odd Future arrived in the UK today and, for the duration of their trip, will be keeping everyone back home up to date with some short tour videos.

In this first clip Tyler tries to put the camera down his trousers and shows off his recent Wonderland cover. The Academy Awards better watch out.

The Royal Wedding. Tyler is very excited.

Impressive stage dive on video but even better in real life.

Shabazz Palaces – Blastit

Posted on by Abeano Artist:

Seattle’s Shabazz Palaces has provided the soundtrack to a new documentary by charity Village Beat.

As Sub Pop explained

“This video (For Blastit) contains footage from the upcoming documentary titled Tough Bond — a film about kids sniffing glue to survive street life in Kenya’s disappearing villages and exploding urban slums.”

It’s an interesting watch and the track is great so thanks to Gorilla vs Bear for the tip.

The LP is out in June on Sub Pop.

Sun Glitters – Find Your Way (See) (Little Black Ant Remix)

Posted on by Abeano Artist: /

We thought bands had to be mega-famous to do one of these but new London producer Little Black Ant has remodelled Luxembourg blog-favourite Sun Glitters as part of the blog-favourites’ ‘Everything Could be Remodelled and That’s Fine’ compilation.

An impressive 17 unknown(ish) artists including Teen Daze and Blackbird Blackbird have also reworked tracks but we’re sticking with this one for now, where Ant adds a hint of grubby bassiness to the original’s sparkly electronics.

Mount Kimbie – Bave’s Chords

Posted on by Abeano Artist:

Mount Kimbie are to send off last year’s debut album Crooks and Lovers with a new EP. Although it features one track from the record – Carbonated – there will be two brand new ones in the shape of the Flux and Bave’s Chords. While Flux keeps it upbeat, the closer showcases the band at it’s most lush, fading out into well, the next record I guess…Peter van Hoesen, Klaus and Airhead will all feature on remixes so look out for those.

It’s out on June 27th through Hot Flush recordings.

Slime (Feat Vondelpark) – 2 Player

Posted on by Abeano Artist: /

Slime (Will Archer) and Vondelpark (a combination of mates led by Lewis Rainsbury) are two artists currently hanging about in London. The first one makes the kind of beats that you probably want to listen to when you’ve got a banging hangover (relaxing, soft) the other does a good line in remixing bombastic tracks with gentle ooooh’s and aaaahhhhh’s and grooved live-tracks set to sunny slideshows.

Late last year and early this year, they were a must listen for anyone who liked getting excited about people who only had a couple of tracks and couldn’t resist a washed-out photograph. So what’s changed in the intervening months? Well, not a lot. While Vondelpark released a low key EP on R&S (it’s called Sauna, check it out) and has reworked the likes of Austra (hear that here), Slime has been perfecting his craft. Here’s the fruit of some of that labour. Dragging his mate into the studio again, he reworks 2 Player into a lulling piece of crisp, crystal clear electronica.

Fatima – Innervision

Posted on by Abeano Artist: /

Those of you who’ve heard other tracks from the gorgeous Follow You EP, notably Red Light, will already have a special place in your heart for Fatima, the Stockholm born graduate of RBMA’s music academy from back in ’08. In the past she’s puts her powerful lungs to use over gorgeous productions by the likes of Funkineven and DâM-FunK but on this new one she’s working with Floating Points to create a unique and special sound, somewhere between the sounds of baked jam session. Fugees LP and polished soul club singer.

We were chatting about it yesterday and decided that it sounds like what’s going inside Gilles Peterson’s brain. Watch the video for Innervision, below.

Metronomy – The Bay (Erol Alkan Remix)

Posted on by David R Artist: /

Fresh from remixing Connan Mockasin and Tame Impala, Erol Alkan turns his hand to ‘The Bay’, perhaps the finest track from Metronomy’s new album ‘The English Riviera’.

In what must be one of his most subtle remixes in years it is only around three quarters of the way through that you can fully see what Erol has added to the mix. Taking the songs core elements (Tight bass, things feeling so good) Alkan turns up the brightness on everything Joe Mount and co. created first time around, while adding a tropical lilt.

At eight minutes long it’s an epic but think of it this way – if you like it then that’s a lot of dancing time. If you don’t, perfect toilet break opportunity during Erol’s festival appearances.

This is the sound of a long, hot Summer stretching right out in front of us.
