Scepter Records is a record company founded in 1959 by Florence Greenberg.
Florence Greenberg founded Scepter Records from the $4000 she received after she sold Tiara Records and The Shirelles to Decca Records. When The Shirelles didn't produce any hits for Decca, they were given back to Greenberg, who promptly signed them.
By 1961 Greenberg launched a subsidiary, Wand Records. Through the two labels, they launched the careers of not only The Shirelles, but Dionne Warwick, Chuck Jackson, The Kingsmen, B.J. Thomas, Joey Dee, Maxine Brown, The Esquires, Tommy Hunt, The Guess Who, Tammi Terrell, The Independents and B.T. Express and gave The Isley Brothers their famous hit Twist And Shout, which was later covered by The Beatles. Another related label was Citation Records, "a Scepter Records subsidiary/series that featured a fake gold record on every cover, advertising the 'best of' (Joe) Tex, Flip Wilson, Deep Purple, Wilson Pickett, the Isley Brothers, and anything else they could lease (or own the rights to)." In 1976 Florence Greenberg decided to retire from the business and sold her record labels to Springboard International. When Springboard went bankrupt, Gusto Records acquired the catalog. Dionne Warwick arranged to buy her own masters, and the Kingsmen won control of their masters via a highly publicized lawsuit.

"Don't Make Me Over" is a song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David which marked the recording debut of Dionne Warwick in 1962. The songwriting/production team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David had been struck by Dionne Warwick's work as a session singer on The Drifters' "Mexican Divorce" in February 1962 and subsequently Warwick had regularly vocalized on demos of compositions by that Bacharach/David team, beginning with the song "Make It Easy on Yourself". Florence Greenberg, owner of the Scepter Records label, had signed Warwick after hearing her voice on the demo for "It's Love that Really Counts" although Greenberg did not wish to release that song as a single by Warwick ("It's Love That Really Counts" was given to the Shirelles to serve as a B-side); Greenberg also rejected "Make...
"Any Old Time Of The Day" was arranged, conducted & written by Burt Bacharach. Recorded in Bell Sound Studios, New York City, 1963. (Scepter Records) Call me I'll be there just waiting so... Don't think because you've been running around, I won't answer the phone when your world tumbles down, You can call me, Any old time of the day, And I'll be there. I'm not looking to try to get even Even though you've been unfair I love you much too much And darling Don't be afraid you'll be waking me up I'll just put on the coffee and pour you a cup You can call me any old time of the day And I'll be there If you ever need someone to cry to, I've got a shoulder to spare, Remember, I still care. It doesn't matter that you broke my heart, My heart still wants you so, It doesn't matter that you lef...

Make the music play Just a little slower, play a little slower Let him hold me in his arms A little longer Make the music play Just a little softer, play a little softer Let him hear me when I sigh How much I love him Make the music play Keep the magic going Keep the love light glowing Within his arms Dont even skip a beat Or he may get away And if we were part...

"Make It Easy On Yourself" is a popular song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David which was first a hit for Jerry Butler in 1962. Dionne Warwick's session work on the Drifters' track "Mexican Divorce" - recorded February 1962 - brought her to the attention of Burt Bacharach who subsequently had Warwick regularly provide vocals on demos of his songs beginning with "Make It Easy on Yourself". On the strength of her vocals on another demo: that of "Is It Love That Really Counts", Warwick was signed by Florence Greenberg of Scepter Records although Greenberg gave the last-named song to the Shirelles as a B-side while rejecting "Make It Easy on Yourself" altogether leading to that song's being shopped to Jerry Butler. Warwick had assumed "Make It Easy on Yourself" would serve as her own deb...

Later in the show a reprise is sung by Mr Brownlow's housekeeper, Mrs Bedwin. In the 1968 musical film version of Oliver!, "Where is Love?" was performed onscreen by Mark Lester, whose singing voice was reportedly dubbed by Kathe Green (the daughter of the film's conductor and musical arranger, Johnny Green), though Lester was actually given credit on the sound...

The Rocky Fellers were an American-born Filipino pop/rock band discovered by Stanley Kahn in the 1960s, who signed them to Scepter Records. The group was composed of four Filipino brothers: Tony, Junior, Eddie and Albert Maligmat, and their father, Doroteo "Moro" Maligmat.[1] They had a hit single called "Killer Joe", written by Bert Russell and Bob Elgin in 1963. The song was inspired by famed dance instructor and 'King of the Discothèque', Killer Joe Piro. It has many similarities to the chorus of the Mickey and Sylvia hit, "Love is Strange".[2] "Killer Joe" reached No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 1963. They followed up with another Bob Elgin song called "Like the Big Guys Do". Among their other recordings was a Christmas novelty song, "Santa, Santa", written by a then-unknown ...

This is the first, and only album by Joseph. Not much is known about this band or album. I'll tell you all I can, though. The "Joseph" in the band is Joseph Longeria, a blues singer/guitarist who was playing the Texas blues-bar circuit in the late '60s. He was discovered by producer/A&R; man Steve Tyrell. Longeria was signed to Scepter Records, and went to work. Longeria had song titles, but no actual songs. Him, the rest of his band and the producers wrote music and lyrics to go with all the titles, and recorded the album in a mere 48 hours. Joseph never had a hit, and never released anything after this. This album is very rare, and is unknown among common society. Songs: 1. Trick Bag 2. I Ain't Flattenin' No More Frogs For Snakes 3. Cold Biscuits and Fish Heads 4. Stoned Age Man 5. I'm G...
