Overton Park
Overton Park is a large, 342-acre (138 ha) public park in Midtown Memphis, Tennessee. The park grounds contain the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, Memphis Zoo, a 9-hole golf course, Memphis College of Art, Rainbow Lake, Veterans Plaza, Greensward, and other features. The Old Forest Arboretum of Overton Park, one of the few remaining old growth forests in Tennessee, is a natural arboretum with labeled trees along trails.
History
The property, once known locally as Lea’s Woods, was purchased by Memphis on November 14, 1901 for $110,000; it was located along the city's eastern boundary at that time. Overton Park was designed by landscape architect George Kessler as part of a comprehensive plan that also included M.L. King Riverside Park and the Memphis Parkway System. The planning began in 1901, and Overton Park was established in 1906. The park is named for John Overton, a co-founder of Memphis. Overton’s name was selected in a competition to name the new park conducted by the Evening Scimitar, a local newspaper; the three choices in the voting were Memphis founding fathers Andrew Jackson, Overton, and James Winchester. The official naming occurred on July 25, 1902.

Park
A park is an area of natural, semi-natural, or planted space set aside for human enjoyment and recreation or for the protection of wildlife or natural habitats. It may consist of grassy areas, rocks, soil, and trees, but may also contain buildings and other artifacts such as monuments, fountains or playground structures. In North America, many parks have fields for playing sports such as soccer, baseball and football, and paved areas for games such as basketball. Many parks have trails for walking, biking and other activities. Some parks are built adjacent to bodies of water or watercourses, and these parks may comprise a beach or boat dock area. Shawn Lane
Shawn Lane (March 21, 1963 – September 26, 2003) was an American musician who released two studio albums and collaborated with a variety of musicians including Ringo Starr, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Reggie Young, Joe Walsh, Jonas Hellborg and many others. After studying the piano, he rapidly mastered the guitar, which he played with exceptional speed.
Youth
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Lane began playing piano with his sisters at the age of eight, but did not play guitar seriously until he was ten. At age 12–13 he began to practice heavily. At fourteen, he became the lead guitarist for Black Oak Arkansas (BOA), alongside members including drummer Tommy Aldridge toured over the next four years opening shows for bands including REO Speedwagon, Ted Nugent, Outlaws, Cheap Trick, Molly Hatchet and Blue Öyster Cult. During 1979 Shawn played in The Streets recording studio demos with Andy Tanas on bass, Chris Craig on drums and Jimmy Henderson on guitar almost securing a deal with Epic Records.

Memphis, Tennessee
Memphis is a city in the southwestern corner of the U.S. state of Tennessee and the county seat of Shelby County. The city is located on the fourth Chickasaw Bluff, south of the confluence of the Wolf and Mississippi rivers.
Memphis had a population of 653,450 in 2013, making it the largest city in the state of Tennessee, the largest city on the Mississippi River, the third largest in the greater Southeastern United States, and the 23rd largest in the United States.
The greater Memphis metropolitan area, including adjacent counties in Mississippi and Arkansas, had a 2014 population of 1,317,314. This makes Memphis the second-largest metropolitan area in Tennessee, surpassed by metropolitan Nashville.
Memphis is the youngest of Tennessee's major cities, founded in 1819 as a planned city by a group of wealthy Americans including judge John Overton and future president Andrew Jackson. A resident of Memphis is referred to as a Memphian, and the Memphis region is known, particularly to media outlets, as "Memphis & the Mid-South".

Surrounded by the grey limestone of the Muddy Mountains the rocks in the Valley Of Fire, the oldest state park in NEVADA, glow a bright red. The rocks do indeed appear to burn in a magical fire that seems to transform them into stone and the origin of this glowing sandstone dates back almost a hundred and fifty million years to the Jurassic Period when the visible rock strata of today was formed by sand dunes.Following the Fremont People and those of the Basketmaker Culture this rocky domain was regularly visited by members of the legendary Anasazi Tribe who originated from the nearby Moapa Valley. For the Anasazi the shining rock formations symbolised a sacred land in which they held various religious ceremonies until they began to leave the area in around the 12th century.Around fifty miles from the noisy hustle and bustle of Las Vegas, The Valley Of Fire State Park is a welcome contrast to the synthetic city of gambling and neon. In recent years the solitude and beauty of this natural landscape with its fascinating glowing-red rock formations has attracted an increasing number of visitors.During the course of each day the sun transforms each aspect of the scenery, including the colour of the rock, into something truly amazing - a land of intense light, shadow and colour. Go on the Portland aerial tram! This is a lesser known thing to do in Portland that is inexpensive and fun. There are lots of scenic views! Explore Portland’s Pearl District with lots of parks, food, and businesses. While there, drink some delicious Portland coffee at Ovation Coffee & Tea PDX. When visiting Portland, Oregon, you must explore the outdoors! Forest Park is one of the largest urban parks in the US with miles to hike in the outdoors. Portland OR also has lots of breweries. I recommend Cider Bite for drinking cider or Cascade Brewing & Barrel House for Sour Beer. And of course, Portland has great food! Visit the Portland Food Truck/ Food Cart Pod near Alder St & SW 10th near downtown Portland.

We stopped by the Lost City Museum in Overton, Nevada and Instead of camping this time, we stayed at the Plaza Motel in Overton. We shared some valueable tips for the road, our first stop on the road was Filmore, then St. George where I talked about things to do in St. George and that its a great base to explore gems like Snow Canyon State Park, Kannaraville Falls, Kolob Canyon and Zions National Park. Mesquite and Las Vegas is also nearby.
