Toonattik - A Restrospective Mini-Documentary (feat. Jamie Rickers) - LJ
GMTV had a regular weekend show called Toonattik, hosted by Anna Williamson and Jamie Rickers. In this retrospective, I got to talk to Jamie personally and learn more about the once-highest rated weekend children's show in the entire UK. If you enjoyed this video, please consider liking and subscribing for more - I'm trying to grow a new channel from scratch, so every interaction helps!

Toonattik - Jamie and Anna's final show - 9 May, 2010
10 years ago today, Toonattik would make some major changes. Jamie and Anna would leave Toonattik after 5 years and be replaced with out-of-vision characters. This was their final show from May 2010, Jamie Rickers and Anna Williamson would leave to briefly join Nickelodeon, they had a similar show called Jamie and Anna's Big Weekend late 2010, which lasted 2-3 hours IIRC as well as Camp Orange UK with Olympian Denise Lewis. Rickers is no longer a children's TV presenter, Williamson currently commits to other projects on TV outside of children's TV nowadays. CITV did not attempt to produce in-vision links in between shows again until 2014 when Scrambled began.

Toonattik Christmas Special 25-Dec-2008: Opening Link
To mark the first Christmas of the 2020s, a festive video for Christmas Day.
Toonattik was GMTV's weekend children's show, presented by Jamie Rickers and Anna Williamson, where two pairs of children played various games throughout the morning to avoid being on the receiving end of the Toonattik Pizza Pie in the Face (well, shaving foam on a large foam pad, really!). It was a show on a Scrooge-like budget and it blatantly showed, with props made out of papier-mache and whatever they could find in the GMTV stationery cupboard, but it was well-meaning and did its best to have fun in the circumstances.
After ITV bought out Disney's 25% share of GMTV in 2010, Toonattik was one of its casualties, bowing out in the last edition on 9 May 2010 with a big song-and-dance number that presumably use...

After ITV bought out Disney's 25% share of GMTV in 2010, Toonattik was one of its casualties, bowing out in the last edition on 9 May 2010 with a big song-and-dance number that presumably used up the rest of its budget (it was the first time we saw the Toonattik camera crew, it was the first show with proper end credits, and we saw the outside of the Toonattik for the first time, a helter-skelter that never appeared before in the programme's lifetime). Rickers and Williamson moved to Nickleodeon, whilst the name continued for a short while as animated pre-recorded links between the programmes, before standard CITV presentation resumed in December 2010.
Here are the opening titles and Jamie and Anna's first link on the Christmas Day Toonattik on Christmas Day 2008, Tuesday 25th December, into the first show, Tom and Jerry Tales, with the pair opening their first presents, presumably linking with plot-lines on the programme.
This video was originally scheduled to be published on Christmas Day 2019, but other priorities meant it had to be pushed forward to this Christmas. Better late than never!
Merry Christmas from the Vault!
