Adele "Rolling In The Deep" (Lenny B Club Mix)  Lenny B, I love you, I have loved you since you were doing those DJ Promotional mixes in Boston.  It's astonishing to me that you have maintained a solid and steady remixing career all these years - good for you and good for us too.  This mix is perfection, I like it more than the original.  Yup music bloggers I said it, and I'll stand by it.

CocknBullKid "Hold On to Your Misery" (Dreamtrak Diamond Sound Remix)  I'm having a major moment with CocknBullKid, I know I'm a little late to the party but it's never too late for this kind of talent.  She is epic.  And this mix is on fire.  This lyric is something not easy to digest on a dancefloor (think about it) but try and resist it, you can't.

Alexis Jordan "Happiness" (Wideboys Club Mix) I know, I know, I might be late to this party too, but THIS MIX TAKES MY BREATHE AWAY.  I heard it at a club and I got goosebumps, it's a kind of epic mix we used to get with every anthem in the 00s, but get so rarely now.  I live for it, ever second of it.

Britney Spears - "Till The World Ends" (Jump Smokers Extended Mix)  The thing is, I like the original better than all the mixes combined, but I figured I'd share this one for Shitz and Gigs. 

Pink "Heartbreak Down" Funk3d Club Mix Who has ever had this many great tracks off a Greatest Hits CD?  Good on you girl, and just take a break when the baby comes, the world will wait for you.

Jessie J. "Price Tag" (Jason Nevins Remix) I kiiiind of love Jesse J. or at least I think I do.  Jason did an OK job with this remix, but I'd really rather hear a mix that stays a closer to the energy of the original.  And I could do without the rap too.

Alex Gaudino (feat Kelly Rowland) "What A Feeling" (Radio Edit)  Ugh, PopMuse don't like it. And don't like Motivation or it's mixes either, but I know I'm in the minority here so I thought I would share because most likely you'll all love this.  Sorry Kelly, I'm a super fan, but I can't find my way to love on these two new ones.

Edei - In My Bed (Dave Aude Club Mix)  Whatever, you know this song, it gets made like every year, 25 times a year, but you sort of love it each time and it keep dancefloors filled so why judge.  It works.  I like the Abba-esque moments best.

Pink "Glitter In The Air" (White Label Mix) Terrible quality bootleg mix that probably never even needed to happen as the original isn't really remix friendly, but I found it and figured I'd share it.  If you have a better copy please share with the group.

Ultra Nate "Turn It Up" Muthafunkaz Catch A Beat Down Dub  I only have the dub mixes, but this one stood out.  Makes me super nostalgic for 90s house, as any Ultra does.  Oh and it makes me want to throw baby powder on the dancefloor and twirl too.

Selena Gomez "Naturally" (Ralphi Rosario Extended Mix)  It's old but somehow this mix came around again for me and I was blown away by how deep tech it was.  This is some black party shit right here, which is creeeepy as it's disney Selena, but hey, it works WELL.

Gaga "Poker Face" (Jody Den Broeder)  I hate the Born This Way mixes - talk about an opportunity lost - where is the Almighty Mix?  Where the hell is the Jody Mix - where the hell is JODY????  Thought I would upload this classic so we could ponder that thought for a bit.

Nelly Furtado "Do It" (Harry 'Choo Choo' Romero Mix) I'm listening to it like everyday all day and I don't quite no why but I insist you all revisit this one again too. 

Roisin Murphy "Demon Lover" (feat. Wiley) Not a remix, not new, but does that dubstep pop Britney aspires to on this new CD sooooo well.  MORE NEW ROISIN NOW!

 

 

3 is Family

 One of my all-time favs popped up on shuffle just now, Dana Dawson's "3 Is Family" (Dancing Diva Mix) and I thought I would share it with you loyal readers (D'Load link above).

Personal significance is a bit obvious, but I loved this track long before a family was on the brain.  (I just love a churchy handclap what can I say.) 

And speaking of family, lil miss Lily has been blowing my mind with the cuteness these days.  I'm sure every parent feels like this, but damn she is adorbs.  She was doing a little pose for the camera now click click last night in her new Hello Kitty Nightgown, see below.  I think she was mimicking the girls on Drag Race actually, which is really the best place to learn how to be a woman isn't it?

Podcast Alert: The Comedy Couch w/ Dennis Hensley & Tony Tripoli

Been loving this Podcast lately.  It's best friends Tony Tripoli (Comedian, Kathy Griffin's Gay-Ex, Joan River's tour mate) and Dennis Hensley (author, actor, journalist, commentator) both from my  favorite... THE SCREENING PARTY! 

The guys are working together on The Fashion Police on E! now and have this podcast where they dish about their professional and personal lives.

I'm too busy listening to it to write about it, just start downloading now!  It's hilarious and so uncensored.  You'll love, trust the PopMuse.

PopMuse and Bloghungry Party with the Beekman Boys

Last night PopMuse and Bloghungry attended a premiere party for the The Fabulous Beekman Boys (Season 2) and fellow Planet Green series Dresscue Me.

World Of Wonder hosted and we got to meet and chat with Beekman Boy Josh Kilmer-Purcell (Brent went home sick before we had a chance to beg him for free soap and cheese).  But Josh was lovely and kind, just as handsome in person as on TV, and yes he was wearing his signature BOOTS!!!  (PopMuse confession of the day: I kept my OUT Magazine subscription going only to read Josh's column.  I'm a big fan of his work.)

We also got some face time with Drag Race judge Santino Rice, and Lady Bunny who was straight off the set of Drag U with some spoilers from next season (kids, it's gonna be EPIC, all I can say is Wubba Wubba Wubba.)  Also met Chaz Bono's GF and star of new OWN Doc Becoming Chaz Jennifer Elia.

So, yeah, there is a whole lot of World Of Wonder TV for you to tune into, so get to setting your DVRs!!!

Viola Wills

Know this about PopMuse, I am not too proud or too big a music snob to walk my ass into Rainbows and Triangles in Chelsea and buy a CD or two when visiting NY.  And when I do I want the absolute GAYEST disc they have.  I'm not talking about some Master Beat compilation, I'm talking about a bootleg CD called "DJ Buddy Beaverhausen's Gay Sock Hop 2".  Or a booty called "Divas: Rare and Classic Mixes 3" - Gurl, "3" means we're going deeeeeep.

This brings me to Viola Wills.  DJ Buddy Beaverhausen is a huge fan, and I don't really have a history with Viola beyond knowing she was the disco diva behind "If You Could Read My Mind".  But DJ Buddy Beaverhausen dropped two of her covers on "DJ Buddy Beaverhausen's Gay Sock Hop 2" that have been blowing my mind this week.  And I want you children to hear them too.  So here you go...

Viola Wills "Both Sides Now"  My favorite Joni Mitchell song gets an 80s disco treatment that is both awkward and epic.

Viola Wills "Always Something there To Remind Me" This will always be Naked Eyes to me (not Dionne - although watch this Dionne Clip below - super chic performance!)  Viola does a nice job disco-izing this one too.

sometimes i'll just turn on the camera in a moment in the car that seems unexpected or important to the day, kind of journaling with my iPhone.  this is not safe, but it is comforting to know I can go back and watch later and remember the moment.  here's two moments.  the one above was on way home from work.  one below was after picking up lily from daycare. both so filled with layered meaning for me.

BRITNEY WINNING!

Think Charlie Sheen got his "WINNING" saying from this new Britney track?  No, me neither.

Aside.  I am completely obsessed with this track.  I've decided I'm a Britney 2nd single kind of guy.  "Piece Of Me", "Circus", "Sometimes" ...you get the idea.  But seriously, this is a major single, MAYYYJER.

It's the kind of track that can turn your life into a music video, like I was racing down the freeway this morning to it playing very loud and the world transformed, I love when that happens. 

True, I am bored with lyrics about DJs, clubs, and dancing (it's the downside of all popular music being based on house and techno sounds) but I'll forgive it that lyric, for the energy behind the "WooOh Oh Oh Oh Ohs" which are heaven. 

And that little filtered bit with the exhale at 3:00 is like something I've been waiting for my whole life and never knew.  It's hard to surprise the PopMuse, but color me surprised by Miss Britney on this one.
