Went for Napa / Vacaville hot air balloon ride with Janitorial team at Automattic, had dinner at 54 Mint, and caught the end of the symphony masquerade ball in San Francisco. Here are Nick’s pictures from the same day.
The thing about the White House West Wing tour is they don’t really let you take pictures, except at the door before you go in and after, and at both places they have terrible lighting. Usually I ignore this and snap clandestinely but that seemed like a bad idea in this case and I didn’t want to get tackled by Secret Service. (I’m surprised they let me take my big honking D3S in at all!) The tour was excellent, very humbling to be in a place where so much history has happened, and might have happened just a few hours before you got there. Anyway here are some before and after shots of the tour.

Went to Basquiat exhibit, wandering around Paris in the snow, lunch with Elliot, Social Media Club, Le Web pre-party, some tripe.
Drinks at Hotel Costes, a fantastic Le Web dinner at Guy Savoy’s restaurant including some peaks behind the scenes and a tour of the kitchen, and closing out the night with some cognac at George V. A lovely night.
I went skiing for the first time in Deer Valley. Includes a video of the one time Barry fell, but not the 15 times I fell.
Visited the Polldaddy meetup in Ireland which was held at Springfield Castle, south near Cork. Includes a close encounter with some deer, peacocks, some karting, and a lovely dinner with Automatticians.
Day trip to Eze, Chevre d’Or where I had the best meal of my life, and walking through Monaco, ending with the Monaco Media Forum.
Exploring Parc de Ville with its Fall colors, the city center of Luxembourg, and the Sonny Rollins concert at Philharmonie.
I met up with Team Social from Automattic in Athens, Greece where they were having their meetup. This day included some injuries, the Acropolis, and a night out on the town.
I attended the F.ounders Camp in Dublin, Ireland put on by Paddy Cosgrave. It included a lot of great folks from both sides of the pond, including Jack Dorsey and Michael Birch pictured here in this album.
I snapped a few photos of the Blue Angels Fleet Week show on Saturday with a lens I’ve been waiting to try out, a 500mm f/4. It was really one of the coolest things I’ve seen, and the pictures turned out pretty well. Afterward went to Golden Gate park for Kevin and Coley’s wedding pre-party, and then back to my place for dinner.
