Tarana is the melody of love! Love of Radha and Shyam which blossomed in the beautiful valley of Kashmir. When Radha's father Rana came to know of this love affair, he was shaken to the core. For he knew that rich and poor are like two banks of the same river which never meet.Even then for the sake of his daughter's happiness Rana went to Shyam's rich guardian Thakur who spurned the offer and almost literally kicked him out. Little did Thakur knew that Radha whom he rejected as Shyam prospective wife was none other than his own daughter whom he had betrothed to his friend's son Shyam in childhood. After having lost his daughter Thakur had brought up Shyam as his own son. Strange are the ways of fate. Though Thakur was really Radha's father he was bent upon destroying her love and happiness. And Rana who had brought up Radha as his daughter was willing to sacrifice everything for her happiness, but he proved powerless against Thakur's might. And the time came when Thakur was about to kill his own daughter Radha. At that very moment, the doll which was Radha's childhood companion came to her rescue by revealing the truth and re-uniting the lovers.

Plot: A young doctor returning home from abroad is stranded in a village as his plane develops trouble and crashes. He meets and falls in love with a beautiful local village girl, who happens to be the daughter of his blind host. The romance is not looked upon by the villagers, especially one particular villager who is courting her himself. He hatches a plot to drive the doctor out of the village and in the process defiles the girl's character. The lovers are separated and the doctor, due to a misleading event, believes his sweetheart to be dead and resigns himself to a dejected life and a loveless marriage. The girl, meanwhile, loses her father in a fire, and sets out in search of her separated lover.

Tarana is the melody of love! Love of Radha and Shyam which blossomed in the beautiful valley of Kashmir. When Radha's father Rana came to know of this love affair, he was shaken to the core. For he knew that rich and poor are like two banks of the same river which never meet.Even then for the sake of his daughter's happiness Rana went to Shyam's rich guardian Thakur who spurned the offer and almost literally kicked him out. Little did Thakur knew that Radha whom he rejected as Shyam prospective wife was none other than his own daughter whom he had betrothed to his friend's son Shyam in childhood. Mehnaz Begum (1958 -- 19 January 2013) was a Pakistani singer, well known for her film appearances.She sang a variety of genres but specialized in ghazal, thumri, dadra, khayal, drupad and reciting salam, noha and marsiya. She was the daughter of celebrated sub-continental singer Kajjan Begum.and the famous government officer Abdullah Abdullah Tasnim, but when she realized fame, she changed her maiden name to Mehnaz.
One of her most memorable works is Master Piece. Master Piece is a painting that Tasnim created when she was taking a drawing class in collage.
She died 19 January 2013 at Bahrain Airport while transiting from Karachi to Miami, United States for medical treatment.
Daughter of reputed singer, Kajjan Begum, Mehnaz showed all artistic signs of music from her earlier days.
Truth be told, she did not mold herself upon her mother. She was influenced by her.
Mehnaz made her debut from Pakistan television's musical program in the beginning of the 1970s.
The song 'Chandni raatain' (the film 'Dopatta') was recorded in her voice. (originally sung by Noor Jehan.)
Apart from receiving appreciation from the public, she earned the respect and encouragement from Noor Jehan herself.
Mehnaz's earlier break through paved the way for her future distinguished singing career.
Soon she started recording songs for the movies.
The following song not only ignited her career, but also became the most radio-recorded romantic number of the yester years.
'Mein jis din bhula doon tera pyar dil say, wo din Aakhri ho meri zindigi ka' (the film 'Khushbu', starring: Shahid, Rani, Mumtaz, Ibrahim Nafees, Rangeela).

'Pyar ka wada aisay nibha yein' (Mehnaz- Mehdi Hasan)
Better still was the song in the film 'Bazaar-e-husn', directed by Mohammad Javed Fazil: 'Lehroan ki tarhaan tujh ko bikharnay nahi dain gey'.

Mehnaz Begum (1958 -- 19 January 2013) was a Pakistani singer, well known for her film appearances.She sang a variety of genres but specialized in ghazal, thumri, dadra, khayal, drupad and reciting salam, noha and marsiya. She was the daughter of celebrated sub-continental singer Kajjan Begum.and the famous government officer Abdullah Abdullah Tasnim, but when she realized fame, she changed her maiden name to Mehnaz.
One of her most memorable works is Master Piece. Master Piece is a painting that Tasnim created when she was taking a drawing class in collage.
She died 19 January 2013 at Bahrain Airport while transiting from Karachi to Miami, United States for medical treatment.
Daughter of reputed singer, Kajjan Begum, Mehnaz showed all artistic signs of music from her earlier days.
Truth be told, she did not mold herself upon her mother. She was influenced by her.
Mehnaz made her debut from Pakistan television's musical program in the beginning of the 1970s.
The song 'Chandni raatain' (the film 'Dopatta') was recorded in her voice. (originally sung by Noor Jehan.)
Apart from receiving appreciation from the public, she earned the respect and encouragement from Noor Jehan herself.
Mehnaz's earlier break through paved the way for her future distinguished singing career.
Soon she started recording songs for the movies.
The following song not only ignited her career, but also became the most radio-recorded romantic number of the yester years.
'Mein jis din bhula doon tera pyar dil say, wo din Aakhri ho meri zindigi ka' (the film 'Khushbu', starring: Shahid, Rani, Mumtaz, Ibrahim Nafees, Rangeela).
Below is a duet, which is her crowning achievement. She knew she was all for it:
'Pyar ka wada aisay nibha yein' (Mehnaz- Mehdi Hasan)
Better still was the song in the film 'Bazaar-e-husn', directed by Mohammad Javed Fazil: 'Lehroan ki tarhaan tujh ko bikharnay nahi dain gey'.
The film 'Sheeshay ka ghar' (director: Nazrul Dada) was brought to life by the following duet:
'Ye safar teray, meray pyar ka' (Mehnaz- Mehdi Hasan).
When it came to any situation in a movie that had emotion, composers usually turned to Mehnaz. Example:
'Wada karo saajna' (Duet: Mehnaz- Alamgir, the mega hit movie, 'Aa'ena', director: Nazrul Dada).
For the sake of record, Mehnaz also lent her voice to the following films:

Synopsis: A young doctor returning home from abroad is stranded in a village as his plane develops trouble and crashes. He meets and falls in love with a beautiful local village girl, who happens to be the daughter of his blind host. The romance is not looked upon with favour by the villagers, especially one particular villager who is courting her himself. He hatches a plot to drive the doctor out of the village and in the process defiles the girl's character. The lovers are separated and the doctor, due to a misleading event, believes his sweetheart to be dead and resigns himself to a dejected life and a loveless marriage. The girl, meanwhile, loses her father in a fire, and sets out in search of her separated lover.
