Meeting of Angels
East and West meet and converse through their classical musical traditions of greatest purity and spirituality, namely Gregorian Chant and the classical music of northern India.
Some of the most beautiful and impressive passages of the Gregorian repertory are skillfully interpreted by the Ensemble Gilles Binchois under the direction of Dominique Vellard, one of the most renowned experts in Gregorian vocalism and ancient vocal music, and by Ustad Nishat Khan, widely respected master of the Sitar.
The idea of combining aspects of the Gregorian mode with an Indian raga, while maintaining a musical and mystic meaning also has a historical significance.
This ecumenical recording, unique in its genre, aroused great expectations before its completion.
Concerts of "Meeting of Angels" enjoy great popularity worldwide and are regularly sold out.
An important recording for the intellectually curious, lovers of Gregorian chant, of classical Indian music and of sacred music in general.
A truly fresh and unpredictable spiritual experience.
