Southern Gazette
Southern GazetteĀ is distributed each Tuesday to City of Belmont, Town of Victoria Park and City of South Perth. The area has a broad profile with above average concentrations of singles and couple households with no dependent children.
An increasing proportion (since 2001 census) of homes are being purchased and there is an above average concentration of renters. The area also houses above average concentrations of people with university qualifications, high incomes and professionals, managers, administrators (notably in the affluent riverside suburbs), white collar CBD workers and skilled/unskilled workers. DINKSĀ (ie: couple only families, both partners in paid employment, younger partner aged under 40), students, overseas born residents (notably in suburbs bordering Curtin University) especially those born in the UK, NZ or Asia.
Older established suburbs house seniors and younger couples renovating and there are pockets of medium-high density housing closer to the CBD. The City of Belmont has seen significant growth in businesses (affordable land/close proximity to transport networks and CBD) while housing development in that area has attracted a growing residential population.
