ROYAL bridesmaid Amber Petty is tending a broken heart again after breaking up with Nine Network's newly appointed managing director Jeff Browne.
Serially unlucky-in-love Petty, the vivacious long-time friend of Princess Mary of Denmark, changed her Facebook status to single at the weekend after her three-month relationship with Browne fizzled out last week.
Browne was conspicuously dateless at Myer's autumn/winter fashion collection at Melbourne's Royal Exhibition Building on Tuesday night, his front-row companion for the evening being Myer boss Bernie Brookes rather than the high-profile Petty.
The relationship apparently lost traction a week ago when the former sports lawyer decided to pull the pin on the romance before he packed his bags for Sydney because of his growing TV responsibilities.
Neither could apparently see the relationship surviving over the long distance.
Sadly the split follows Petty's move from Adelaide to Melbourne last year to be closer to family and, later, Browne.
Only a month ago Petty described the relationship as "really nice" and admitted a reluctance to say much more out of loyalty to the privacy-loving Browne. "We've been spending lots of time together," she said. "We're having a lovely time."
Friends of Petty say she is now concentrating on the launch of her natural therapies website.
Undoubtedly a nice diversion could be a trip to Denmark later in the year to meet Princess Mary and Prince Frederik's new twins.
Petty was not returning calls yesterday.
