A DRAMATIC lunchtime arrest has unfolded in the city's streets after police found the red Toyota Corolla they had been searching for since this morning.

About 1.15pm, police swooped on a Franklin St car park and detained three men who were in a red Toyota Corolla hatchback.

They also took a woman with a toddler away for questioning.

A witness described seeing eight or nine police officers, with their guns drawn, yelling at the occupants of the car to get out and lay down on the ground.

Police had been searching for the car and its male driver, 22, following a domestic-related incident at Craigmore this morning. Fears initially were held for the woman, 22, and child, 2, who were travelling with the male driver.

During the arrest, the woman and child were ushered to the side and taken away.

One man was arrested and taken away in an unmarked police car. He has been charged with firearm offences over an alleged incident at a Craigmore shoppign centre this morning.

Two other men, who were also in the car, hid their face with jumper hoods as they were put in the back of a police car. They have not been charged.

The red Toyota Corolla had been the subject of a police alert earlier this morning asking for public help to locate the vehicle.
