The Northern Times, serving communities between north Brisbane and the border of the Sunshine Coast, was established in 1980. Its core distribution area includes Bald Hills, Pine Rivers Shire and Caboolture Shire. There is a blend of rural and affordable suburban housing areas as well as pockets of more prestigious housing. Many new housing estates are being developed in the area which is predominately populated by young families and first home buyers. The area is home to the picturesque D'Aguilar Ranges, Lakes Samsonvale and Kurwongbah, Clear Mountain and the golden beaches of Bribie Island. The Morayfield, Brendale, Lawnton and Narangba areas provide a mixture of light and heavy industrial estates.
