All's well among Reds despite walkout

REDS coach Rini Coolen and captain Travis Dodd have both downplayed Cassio's training walkout yesterday.

The pair declared all is well in the Adelaide United camp ahead of Sunday's elimination final clash with Gold Coast.

The Reds have endured a bizarre start to their finals campaign - first Paul Reid declining to play last week against Wellington and then Cassio's early departure from training yesterday in protest at some teammates training "like schoolboys".

But Dodd said it was simply a matter of the Brazilian left-back letting off some steam.

"With Cassio's situation, I'd rather see him fired up like that than walk around and not care what the other players are doing," Dodd said.

"It's good that he gets fired up. We'd finished the session anyway, so I would hardly say that he walked out of training."

There is nothing at all to worry about at the moment. While the club may seem to be the subject of the latest Bold and the Beautiful storyline, the only recent drama fans and members should have been worrying about was the Paul Reid situation, which has since been resolved. Cassio is one of the team's most skilled players, and he has made a perfect point. In the words of well-known Adelaide United supporter Topgun Jimmy, 'Fire up farken!'

Well, the new or younger players in Cassio's scratch match team should have a good look at themselves and listen to Cassio's frustration. Cassio and a few other AUFC players know how to prepare themself before a semi-final knock-out match, because they've been there before. If it's true what happened, they need to practise as they want to perform on Sunday, because it won't get any easier until the Grand Final. Adelaide has been the brides maid for too many times and this year should be our year to lift the "silver toilet seat" up and celebrate.
