The Fine Brothers made another installment in their ongoing series “Kids React to Viral Videos.” What happens in this series is that kids are made to watch both new and old popular viral videos and then tell us what they think the videos are about. It’s great. If you have been keeping up with these, you will be very happy to know that Jake continues to be the most awesome kid in the world when it comes to slightly scary children watching and reacting to viral videos. You will also be happy to know that the kid who looks like Data from The Goonies (no raco (the equivalent of no homo for racism)) really comes into his own in this episode. And the kid who looks like Bill Maher still looks like Bill Maher.
Haha, JAKE!
BWE management oversight for our blog by our boss Torey Malatia who wants to tell you one thing, “Stop laughing ’cause you’re ugly.”
(I would like to offer this American apology for that last reference.)
There are some YouTube dudes named the Fine Bros., and what they did was take an average idea for a web video series and execute it really well. They got a bunch of kids together, showed them viral videos and then recorded their reaction.
Here’s an example of what is interesting about it. You have probably never really considered before what a child would think about the “full on double rainbow” video. Kids don’t know what hallucinogenic drugs are. And they’ve certainly never taken them at their friend’s mom’s home in Worcester, Massachusetts and then freaked out because the mom is an antique toy collector and there were like eight Teddy Ruxpins in one room. Kids have never done that. They have no frame of reference. What are they thinking when they watch a video of a guy freaking out on drugs when their life experiences do not include anything that would allow them to fully comprehend it? Now you get to find out. Here is the first episode in a series called Kids React to Viral Videos.
And the quote of the video clearly goes to the answer to the question, “Have you ever had rabbits?”
Answer: “Zero. All I had was a goldfish I’m an only child I live in a neighborhood with no kids in it. Oh my gosh.”
Those kids! Good job, kids. You’re all hired at this blog where you will write all the future commentary for viral videos.
When we first heard the news earlier this week that Constantin Films, the studio behind the German-language WWII film Downfall, was working with YouTube to shut down the scores of “Hitler Reacts To” videos that have sprouted up online, we here at BWE.tv breathed a sigh of relief, thinking we’d finally be able to put one of the internet’s most annoying memes comfortably in the rear view mirror. Sadly, yet expectedly, this news only resulted in more Hitlerreaction videos sprouting up.
In response, our crack video guru, Mr. Pete Schultz, put together the following video, one that we’re hoping will be the final nail in the “Hitler Reacts To” meme coffin. Danke schoen.
When military scientists invented the internet back in the 1950′s, this is what they had in mind. Behold, the video for OK Go‘s “This Too Shall Pass”:
I can’t tell if this video makes me feel sickeningly lazy or like an actually somewhat productive human being. This is the type of thing I would inadvertently get carried away with some Saturday in my apartment before realizing I was supposed to pick up my grandmother at the airport seven hours ago. Either way, just give all the awards we have left in the world to OK Go. And some towels.
“Videos of cats puking?” you say? “How many of those could possibly exist?” Allow us to answer on behalf of the entire internet by saying “Thousands.” That’s right. Literally dozens of brilliant film auteurs had the luck of being in the right place at the right time… the right place being “in front of their cat”, the right time being “when that cat is throwing up.” Here are the 11 Best Cat Puking Videos on the Internet:
11. The Classic. This is your typical cat vom scenare: Adorable cat gets a case of the ol’ stomach convulsions, and in a mere 20 seconds, delivers the world a small mouthful of feline puke, only to go on about his day.
10. The NSFW. We’re not sure what this chubby orange tabby’s owner was expecting to happen… but it’s safe to say the results are a bit of a let down. Was this recorded in a Cat Frat House? Yes.
The fake Fat Boy rapper (wait, is it a real Fat Boy?) at the helm of the this Pull Ups commercial tells us not to be afraid of “The Potty Dance”, a hate-to-admit-it-catchy rap song aimed at children who need to stop peeing in their pants and need to start aiming it into a toi-toi. This song is sort of like the “It’s a Small World” of sh*t-related kids music videos… but any song teaching kids how to take their pants down sounds like the latest hit single off of the Bad Idea Pampers Inc. label.
Are you looking for a smooth jam to play on your stereo as you make long, passionate love to your lady while eating lobster drizzled in butter sauce by the light of the moon? Look no further, because it is our sensual pleasure to introduce you to Ladomour. Who is Ladomour? We’re not really sure. But judging by his soon-to-be-hit single “All That We’ve Been Through”, we’re going to guess Ladomour is one of God’s army of angels sent to impregnate women the world over, using the notes as his seed and our ears as his vessel. In other words: Ladomour is a national treasure.
If you find that you don’t have over 5 minutes to spare for the entire video (side note: How dare you?), we suggest fast forwarding to 2:48 and spending at least a minute marveling over the special effects used in conjunction with Christina Applegate’s ponytail in Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead. Then, pop a Plan B in each ear. You can never be too safe, girls.
Our friends over at Videogum, being the Internet video experts they are, have posited the question: Was 2006 the Golden Age Of Viral Videos? They’ve amassed a compelling body of evidence to make their case, pointing out that some of the very best and most memorable examples of viral video were indeed created and posted to the Internet in 2006. But as solid as their theory may be, I will now blow it out of the water entirely, because I’m a d*ck. You see, 31 days after the conclusion of 2006, on the last day of January in the following year, the following video appeared on YouTube, thereby rendering all that came before it worthless by comparison. Ladies and gentlemen, the TRUE high point of the Viral Video phenomenon:
(Okay, I just had to post this one more time before I left.)
Remember Planet Unicorn? Ah, yes, how could you forget. The theme song alone repeats in mine brainfolds anytime I cross paths with gay boys named Shannon. Anyway, Planet Unicorn hasn’t had a new episode in close to a year, which has left my heart dry and empty. But luckilly, brilliant creator Tyler Spiers has a new summer trick up his sleeve, in the form of Cleveland’s Next Top Model. It’s a modeling show in Cleveland, where the winner is promised at least one catalogue shoot maybe. Definitely a Mall runway show for Jr. Prom. Or something of that nature.
We bring you the entire series here, and urge you to devote 22 or so minutes of your life to it, specifically if you’ve ever watched the Tyra Banks esteem-fest that is America’s Next Top Model. If Lorne Michaels is reading this (and, let’s face it, he definitely is) there are at least 2 or 3 folks in these vids that would make great additions to that little show of his.
First up, we bring you the most recent video of Outtakes, which is a nice intro:
After the jump, Parts 1 through 4 of Cleveland’s Next Top Model…
Joan Rivers was featured throughout the fourth hour of The Today Show this morning, and honestly, we wish we could post each segment, as they were seriously Brill Paxton. So, as we are forced into choosing one of many amazing moments, we’ve decided to run with this clip, where Joan Rivers manages to get Oda Mae Brown… err, make that Hoda Kotb and Natalie Morales to OUT Jodie Foster as a lesbian. It was only after they looked desperately into the camera with a look of sheer panic that Joan rescues the situation by calling Tom Cruise gay. She’s a legend for a reason, people.
Awkward television at its finest! Also, we’d like to wish her the best of luck in dodging the Scientology officers on their way to ladynap her.
