Star Wars: The Old Republic Launches Guild HQ
- 2 Comments
Star Wars: The Old Republic now has a new Guild Headquarters and a Pre-Launch Guild Program. Since there are a lot of SW: ToR guilds kicking around, BioWare decided to provide the tools to officially register and reserve your guild's name. You can also search for an existing guild to join, or create a new one and start recruiting members. One of the perks is that once the game launches, you may be able to import your guild directly into the game. Here's what else you get:

Every guild gets its own guild mini-site on www.StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com, complete with information about the guild, its recruitment status, and its own public and private forums. Create or join a guild now and you’ll have the opportunity to have your own space to socialize and organize before the game launches. Every guild is automatically entered into the searchable guild database, which makes it easy for players to find their ideal guild. Get your guild together early and get ready for The Old Republic!

In Other News... Flawless Victory! (For PSN+)
I can't help but feel a little jealous of the PS3 nerds that actually invested in a Sony Playstation Network Plus subscription. They've got first dibs at the Mortal Kombat demo, and I've been hearing nothing but good things about it thus far. There are already guys putting together ultimate combo videos where they chain together moves that result in 50-60% damage too. I'm going to be viewed as such a scrub when I finally get access.

I had some good times with MK. Of course the local arcade brought me my first experience, and there wasn't much else at the time that was more satisfying than humiliating my opponent with a fatality in front of a crowd. Later I brought the action home thanks to the Genesis and SNES. All the gore and blood in the home made some parents freak, but I was all about yanking out spines for science. It was educational in an anatomic sense, you see!

But yeah, like most of you guys I'll be stuck waiting until the MK demo breaks out of the PSN Plus exclusive window. The general PS3 community is next up to get access, and the Xbox 360 sometime after that. All I know is I'm looking forward to it, and you should be too.

"...the semi-linear story and repetitive environments have a negative effect on what is otherwise a great role-playing game." -- IGN

"A pinnacle of role-playing games with well-designed mechanics and excellent story-telling, Dragon Age II is what videogames are meant to be." -- The Escapist

"An enduring classic? Not quite. A satisfying epic? Absolutely. " -- Eurogamer.net

Skulls Of The Shogun Trailer Released, Looks Pretty Fun
- 0 Comments
Thanks to the upcoming release of Total War: Shogun 2 this little guy just blipped on my radar. Skulls of the Shogun is an upcoming PC and Xbox 360 turn based tactical strategy game much like Advance Wars on the Nintendo DS, or a lighter less serious version of PC classics like Jagged Alliance or X-COM. A new trailer just went out, it looks like a potentially fun time waster if you ask me.

MMORPG Raiderz Coming To North America
Perfect World Entertainment has signed a licensing agreement to bring Raiderz to North America. The MMORPG from MAIET Entertainment is based on a "non-targeting system", where players have direct control over their characters and progress during battle, rather than the traditional point 'n click. RaiderZ will be shown for the first time to North American players at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

"Fans of the monster hunting genre can rejoice with RaiderZ and can look forward to another high quality game with superior localization and service," said Alan Chen, CEO of Perfect World Entertainment, Inc. "RaiderZ's fast paced action in a real time environment brings a truly unique online gaming experience to our current gaming portfolio."

"RaiderZ is our new game since the release of GunZ the Duel and I believe that it will bring new game experiences to the players. We are very pleased to be able to provide RaiderZ to North American users with Perfect World Entertainment, and we will do our very best to provide contents to satisfy game players." said Venister, CEO and founder of MAIET Entertainment.

Uncharted 3's New Villian Revealed, Hopefully Dies At The End
- 5 Comments
You know a new villain is effective in the role when you already hate her after a two minute clip. Katherine Marlowe is like one of those old school school teachers that gets off on punishing students, except in this case she's trying to bully a certified badass. Hopefully Drake gets to push her into a vat of acid as part of the grand finale.

Duke Nukem Forever Balls Of Steel Bust Size Disappoints The Ladies
- 5 Comments
Jace Hall slipped a picture of the Duke Nukem Forever Balls of Steel bust in a recent blog post. It doesn't quite live up to the size you'd expect (or does it?).

Based off the promotional materials released by 2K Games the bust looked to be about the size of a DVD case, but in reality it's about as small as a mouse. I guess Duke compensates for size with his muscle bro bod and bad boy attitude.

Armoured and Dangerous Unleashed Into The Wild
- 0 Comments
Phantasm Game Studios has released its strategy game of battle tanks, called Armoured and Dangerous. The indie studio in Bangalore hopes to capture the interest of both casual and veteran games with this latest production.

Although the game can be simply defined as a strategy game that runs on battle tanks, 'Armoured and Dangerous' packs in excitement beyond what conventional tank games offer. The game promises (manages) to captivate the player's mind into creating the best strategy to achieve a given goal instead of the game play being limited to generic battle actions.

Each of the tanks is designed for a unique set of offensive or defensive actions and can be controlled individually for employing the battle strategy. The focus is more on the game play than exploration, presented in a grim setting of vast acres of barren battling terrain. The player can choose from a pool of 5 tanks to build your Tank unit and strategize to attack and destroy your opponent's tanks and structures. The Campaign unlocks the various features of the games as and when you complete your objectives. The Skirmish allows you play any particular terrain for a quick rush of adrenaline. The game contains three game play modes -- Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, and Search and Destroy.

MicroVolts Heading To Open Beta Thursday
Rock Hippo Productions has announced that its cartoon-style third person shooter, MicroVolts will start its open beta this Thursday, March 10th. The open beta will include an all-new "Elimination" game mode as well as two new maps, Junk Yard and Castle. Players will be able to join in the open beta by visiting the official MicroVolts site.

Hunt or be hunted! Starting this Thursday MicroVolts players can check out the new elimination style game mode. Elimination is a team-based mode that rewards strategic, aggressive offense. When a player is killed, they're out for the round! The Radar item spawns in the middle of the map at half-time. If a player grabs it they will be able to see every remaining enemy on the map. It's a fight for map control!

Unlucky players who hang back will surely be eliminated, but if they are aggressive and push forward, they will be the eliminator!

Good lord, that poor dog. How much would it cost to make you sniff those drawers? I'm thinking 5k. I could buy a lot of blank prescriptions and a wheel of aged cheddar for 5k! It would be totally cool to get cheese in wheel form. Screw you rectangular blocks.
