A cold front brought chilly temperatures to Tasmania, and snow was reported as low as 700m above sea level.
On Sunday, daytime temperatures were seven to ten degrees below average in the Central Plateau. Lake St Clair only reached nine degrees, ten below the February average. That was the coldest day there since Dec 2010 and the coldest February day since 2008.
Overnight, snow was reported at Lake St Clair, and sleet was seen at Tarraleah.
Minimum temperatures around the state were five degrees below average. In Hobart the temperature dipped to 5.6 degrees at 6 am, six degrees below average and the coldest February night since 2004.
Temperatures are expected to increase today and for the rest of this week as a high moves across the Great Australian Bight, clearing skies across Tasmania.
